We wanted to use these as night lights for our girls room, which is on the darker side during the day. It doesn't get direct light, but has a large window. These lights never shut off in there, which I guess is reasonable given the nominal state of the room. However these lights also struggle to shut off in rooms that have a reasonable amount of light too.
They were cheap and I can't complain too much. We are keeping them and using them because they run cool and use less power. We are opting to unplug them during the day since we run in and out of our girls room so many times during the day.
Essentially we got what we paid for. Don't buy these expecting them to shut off in medium to poorly lit rooms. If your room is bright, then I think they'd work consistently and shut off at an appropriate time.
