The primary quality to consider in a spectacle loupe is convenience. Otherwise, why not just get some other hand-held or mechanical arm type magnifier? Sadly, my experience with this little tool so far has been more frustrating than I'd hoped.
First let me say, the magnification is great. The little lenses are clear and it's nice to be able to switch between the different levels of magnification on the fly.
However, the clamping mechanism which attaches the tool to your glasses is a pain. The instructions for how to adjust the device to fit different styles of glasses are not very clear, and I have only been partially successful in getting them to stay on my wire-frames. I think they would work a little better on a pair of thicker, traditional plastic frames, but these seem to twist and shift every time I adjust the lenses, requiring constant repositioning so they don't completely fall off.
If at all possible, I would try these on in a store or somehow else get a little hands-on time with them to see if they will work well with your style of glasses. If you can get past the attachment issues so that they stay firmly in place, they might be worth the money.
