Tools and Hardware Reviews of Professional UV Inspection Flashlight 380-385nm - 16 Ultraviolet LEDCustomer Review: Professional UV Inspection Flashlight 380-385nm or..... Summary: 4 Stars
Delivery:
After ordering for two of these nifty flashlights I received the package not long after that, only to find just one flashlight in the package. Even though the markings on the package suggested that the initial package probably indeed contained two flashlights, the people from Fix Find replaced the missing one no questions asked. My compliments for that. Not very long after that I received my second flashlight.
Product quality:
I would rate this product as a nice commercial product, not a professional product but however decent built. The price quality ratio is more than acceptable.
UV light output and spectrum:
The product description ratio states 380-385nm UV light. Compared to my other two UV flashlights I am reasonably convinced it is actually a bit more 400nm, but it is still UV (compared to other so called UV flashlights which are actually blue/purple). The output is actually quite impressive.
Usage:
What is this flashlight actually capable of. It is capable of revealing anti fraud elements in European bank notes. For a really good bank note inspection, where you can distinguish between elements showing blue and green fluoresence the wavelength is bit too long. It does however reveal them clearly. On other identity documents the results varied quite a lot. For some documents the results where a bit disappointing (just usefull) and on other documents, such as credit cards the results where actually quite good.
For urine/pet/protein stains on white or light objects the flashlight produces too much visible light output, maybe that a pair of yellow goggles would make a difference here. On not too white surfaces, like a colored carpet I assume it will suffice especially considering the massive output.
One application where this part of the UV spectrum, or this flashlight is quite useful is for establishing fungal toenail infection. Where it is sometimes hard for the naked eye to determine fungal toe nail infections, especially at the end of a treatment, this flashlight clearly shows the difference between infected and uninfected nails. A must have for professionals working in nail care. (Note that a shorter wavelength, though good for checking ID documents would not work out so good for nail inspections surprisingly.)
Conclusions:
A decent multipurpose UV flashlight, suitable for a number of applications, see above.
Customer Review: Could Be Brighter Summary: 4 Stars
Overall I'm happy with this UV flashlight. The aluminum body is something you would find on a $5.00 pocket flashlight. The button is OK also and I had no problems. I was worried because some reviewers talked about a defective button. The battery holder was adequate but had no markings for battery polarity except a single plus sign at the top. I've seen better buttons and battery holders on cheaper flashlights. My only complaint is the brightness of the UV light. Don't even think about using this light in a room with normal daylight from a window. It is not even bright enough at night with the lights on in the room. The UV light just isn't bright enough. At night, with all the lights out, the light becomes usable for items that fluoresce under UV light. The brighteners in paper, tissue and some laundry detergent will then stand out against the background. Pet urine is detectable, but is not as bright as paper. The light is small and portable so detecting repairs in antiques or paintings is possible in a darkened room. Overall a 4 star rating is generous. The main reason I bought this flashlight over others that were cheaper, was the claim the light was 385-390 nanometers. Do not get the 400nm flashlights. There are fewer things that fluoresce at that frequency. There is not a lot of choice in the market for a pocket UV flashlight at this price level.
Warning: Do not look directly at the light because even though the light looks dim as normal light, the UV light that you can't see is much brighter and can damage your eyes. (Maybe it is just to dangerous to have a much brighter UV flashlight)

This light looks just like it is. It works well right out of the box. It comes in a flimsy white little box, but works just great anyway. It's bright, useful enough to check over the surfaces you want to see. Great for finding invisible stains, germs, dirty areas, on walls, floors, ceilings, faucets, toilets, cabinets, cars public restrooms, locker rooms, etc. It's not that powerful, but works for normal situations. Just make the area dark and shine it around. You can see all the places that need cleaned better, places you should look out for - if you want to stay healthy and avoid contaminants. Carry it with you in your purse. Share it with others. They will be surprised how previous areas thought to be clean could turn up NOT SO CLEAN. I especially like using it prior to getting out my Shark Steam Pocket Portable Steamer so I know where to concentrate my cleaning efforts. I'm not an extremist, but feel we should clean that thoroughly on a fairly regularly basis, out of respect to ourselves and others. This little flashlight is a welcome addition to my cleaning toolkit.
Customer Review: Highly disapointed Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered this and it was defective. I tried 5 sets of different AAA batteries in it, and it would not work. I even tried inserting them differently just to see if maybe it was wired wrong.. It stated on box on how to load batteries in it and states if the light does not come on, it is because you inserted the batteries wrong. WELL there is only one flat side (negative) of a battery so it is pretty evident how to load it per the instructions.. this was just plain and simple a defective light.. construction does not seem to be that bad on the housing. but the connection parts of it are a bit sloppy for contact with batteries. Hoping to get a resolution out of this with the company.. what really bugged me about it was I paid priority mail to have it sent to me for a vacation which now I won't be able to use it for. They state that they test these but obviously they do not..The only saving grace is I had the hindsight to order another version of this light from another company the 51 led light sold on amazon.. it works great but is a bit bigger than this one.
Customer Review: Good to an extent Summary: 3 Stars
I am very OCD about saliva (most other bodily fluids do not bother me). I bought this light thinking it would illuminate saliva. It doesnt. It barely illuminates any sort of bodily fluid. I tried my own bodily fluid (nasty huh) and it barely illuminated even with proper UV enhancing goggles on. There were things that did illuminate nicely, but those are generally things that would illuminate under any blacklight. I even tried it on my rat tank which houses 16 rats. Nothing illuminated. I tried it on the old rat tank before I cleaned it out. i could smell the urine in the thank but could not get a dang thing to illuminate other than some of the paper shreds in there.
If you are interested in "professional" UV illumination then do yourself a favor and avoid this light and most cheapy brands. It is definitely work it to spend the extra money. This light is good if you want to illuminate things that should be illuminated (like florescent papers and materials. Though getting bodily fluids to illuminate is hit and miss with more miss.
