When we purchased our ceiling fan, we were most upset to discover that it required a medium size based bulb which is as ugly as they come. I enjoy decorative bulbs in my ceiling fans & it seems certain makes only use these bases. This is not discovered until the last step of installation of the fan. I would NEVER have purchased a fan (no matter how much I liked it) that would only use these same ugly bulbs!!! No lighting stores carry medium size decorative ones so I was stuck...until I decided to see if there might be adaptors for the socket which would allow me to use a different size base. Sure enough I found some through Amazon which I ordered & are now in place using lovely candelabra style bulbs...which certainly enhances the room!!!
I did not put it under 5 stars because of the cost of shipping...my Prime doesn't kick in to other party sellers so though the weight was next to nothing for the 4 of them, I still had to pay about double the cost of the reducers for shipping which was a bit much. I'm still glad I purchased them though. Really ugly bulbs in any fixture defeat the purpose of any lovely room & where in the world the brains were for the designers of said fixtures, I do not know. I've heard others complain of the same trend...and they too discovered the ugly bulbs AFTER they had finished installation. A real no brainer! After this I'll check out any fan BEFORE I purchase it!
But...am sure glad Amazon offered these socket reducers!
