My Genie remote stopped working, so I purchased one at Lowes (paid 15 dollars more than the price given here).
The unit is a single-button remote that (amazingly) comes with a battery already installied (Yea!!!). How many manufacturers supply batteries in today's world??? - not too many in my experience.
The remote only works with the "Intellicode" brand Geneie openers. This remote will not work with (much) older Genie doors where one keys in a specific security code.
Programming took a whole 2 minutes. The plastic housing was removed from the garage door opener, the "Learn" button was pressed once, the Genie remote button pressed twice, and voila! - the unit operates the garage door!
The remote comes with a visor clip for the car, or alternatively, it also comes with a keychain attachement. If it is used as a keychain, there is a plastic housing that snaps over the front of the remote facing which prevents the accidental pressing of the remote button.
Something to consider: Genie also makes a three button remote for garages that have more than one opener. Each button can be programmed to open a specific door. I'd wholeheartedly recommend the three button model for those with more than one door to open. Genie GICT390-3BL 3-Button Remote Control with Intellicode
