Customer Review: Great Small Opener

This is a good opener, and has a very good range. It works from about one house away (around 50-100 feet) which is about the maximum distance that you would want it to work from. It is small, but not so small it is hard to use. The only negative comment that I can make about it is that the two smaller buttons do not work. This seems to be a common problem. I have tried to get them to control either of my doors, but only the larger button works. The receiver lights up like it is receiving the signal, but nothing happens. It is possible that it is because I am using it for an Overhead Door, but unlikely since they are the parent company of Genie. Not a big complaint, since I live by myself and rarely use the other door. The buttons are recessed, so they are hard to press accidentally but easy to press when you want to use it. It is a good buy for the price with only minor problems.Customer Review: Only works on one door

I bought this because we have two doors, but only the center button can be programmed to open and close either door. The side buttons won't open or close either door even if the unit shows that they were programmed correctly.
The instructions say: "Only ONE button of a Multi-Button Transmitter can be programmed into a single Receiver. The other buttons are to control other Door Operators." This is false. (At least in my case.)
If you need to open two doors, get the previous model. (Genie Git-2 ACSTG Type 2 Intellicode Transmitter) We have it and it works for both doors.

I have two garage door openers and purchased two of these remotes. I could program each remote to work on one door or I could program both to work on one door. I could not program two of these to operate two doors each. The second or third buttons could not be programmed into the alternate garage door opener. I called Genie, which has poor customer service and was very difficult to find someone,and they told me that I needed a "stronger transmitter" (their words). The person I spoke to seemed like someoine unfamiliar with the product and happened to be near the phone when it rang. They recommended I purchase the G2T3 transmitters. Like a few others here I have found that the large button works fine for a single opener, but the two smaller buttons inexplicably do not work on any opener. The LED on the receiver (power head) reacts normally when programming the smaller buttons, but the smaller buttons simply will not operate the Intellicode openers that I have tried. I have tried two of these 3-button remotes with two different Intellicode openers, to no avail. Genie customer support says that the new remotes should work fine, but they really don't work!
Try the GIT-3 instead...
Customer Review: Easy to program, easy to lose!

Programming it was EASY - just push a button on the opener and a button on the remote...done. The problem is the clip that comes with it - the remote falls out waayyy too easily. I am thinking about taping mine with electrical tape to keep it from falling out. Another thing is that the buttons are really close since it is such a small device so you may find yourself hitting 2 buttons at the same time. I would recommend buying the old school big remote. Sometimes the newer and smaller is not always better.
