Tools and Hardware Reviews of Genie GWKP-BL New Wireless Keypad with IntellicodeCustomer Review: 3 years living with Genie Wireless keypad Summary: 5 Stars
I've purchased the wireless keypad about 3 years ago when I had my Genie belt driven door opener installed. I live in Albuquerque, NM, and the weather never seems to get to extreme in the winters or summers (very little rain also). My house also faces south with direct sunlight on the wireless keypad 90% of the time.
This keypad has performed flawlessly since the installation. The color of the remote looks a little faded and my daughter broke the front cover off about 2 years ago; but, this unit has never failed to perform as advertised. The numbers of the buttons don't look worn and the keypad's backlighting still works. I usually change the 9v battery once a year and the keypad maintains its programming during the exchange. My only gripe would be the cover breaking so easily and you have to replace the whole unit (the plastic on top of keypad broke and you cannot connect the cover to it).
Having this keypad outside the garage is a must have when you have kids around the house and in-laws that come to visit often.
Customer Review: Great. Very convenient Summary: 4 Stars
Got this as an additional garage door opener when I was looking for a replacement garage door remote. It actually came in handy when selling the house for having the Habitat Restore guys come and pick up some appliances I was donating. I set up a temporary code for them to use that I was able to change back to the original code afterwards. Such a great option! Only problem is the Habitat guys had trouble getting the door closed back again. Don't know what happened. Seems to work fine, but there was that one small glitch. A very nice convenient gadget to have. I wish I had gotten it earlier.
Customer Review: Not recommended Summary: 1 Stars
This is the keypad that came with our Genie garage door opener and after 3 years, we have to replace it. The cover for the battery will not stay on and always falls down onto the driveway causing the battery to hang by the wires. After entering the code, you must slide the cover back down or you will drain the battery by keeping it open. We have had to replace the battery more times than we should have. I was always afraid that we would come home some time and it wouldn't work. I would not recommend buying this product because it seems like there are much better options out there.
Customer Review: Why did I wait so long to get this? Summary: 4 Stars
After years of making sure we had a small remote with us when going bike riding or a walk, we saw this on amazon (it was recommended as we were shopping for another replacement remote!) and thought..."Why haven't I tried this before?" I love this unit. It was a little tricky to program, but it might be one of the best things I've bought in a long time. My kids can come and go without keys (they would lose them), and I no longer have to carry remotes when I ride. Get one! It only loses a star due to some goofy behavior during programming that made it take longer than needed.
Customer Review: decent opener Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this opener to replace the first one in which the buttons would always stick and my parents (who are on the older side) could never seem to open. This one works well with my Genie Intellicode garade. However, the cover hinge broke within a month. And after two years it has stopped working entirely (won't reset/reprogram and won't open the garage). So better than some but I still wonder if there's something else out there that is more durable.
