Gerber always produces high quality knives, and the 22-47162 is no exception. For someone with large hands, this knife fits the bill. The spring assist works well by either thumb or index finger operation, and the knife is light in weight so that it is hardly noticeable in my pocket.
The handles have enough texture for a confident grip. and the non-reflective finish on the blade complements the overall appearance of this Fast Draw model. I was so favorably impressed, that I ordered the mini version as well.

Yes this Knife would be better if it had a metal handle ,but besides that it is a wonderful knife. This knife is perfect for anyone that need a good knife for defense or everyday work. the blade is lighting fast to open. I would almost say to fast. I was looking for a knife that was easy to open and this fits the build. to those who said the lock is a bit hard to push up might have got a bad lock or are just picky. Lubing up the lock mechanism will help with some of the stiffness, and help it slide better.Customer Review: Not the prettiest knife I've ever owned

I was a little disappointed about the sharpness out of the box. A couple of swipes on a sharpening steel changed all that. Like I said, this is not the prettiest knife I've ever owned but it just shouts efficient tool. If you're right handed. I am and everything is right where it should be. With a little practice, the time from pocket to use is a matter of a second.
The blade is substantial and sturdy, I've used mine for anything from chipping ice to slicing up pork ribs.

you will not be disappointed with this folding knife,,,It will disappear in your pocket, on a belt sheath or if your careful it has the belt clip also...the blade,out of the box, is like a surgeons scalpel,,very,very sharp,,the spring assist will move the blade out in an instant..the knife has a small safety latch that will keep the blade locked in your pocket and locked open when in use...this knife gets 5 stars for sure....Bryan C in IdahoCustomer Review: Why bother...

I have owned a Gerber multi-tool for more than 15 years, used it for all kinds of things & never experienced any problems with its quality. That (& the 3" blade) is why I chose to buy this knife. The first one arrived with a broken lock/switch. Amazon made the exchange easy & quick. The replacement gave me 6 months of limited use before the spring broke. I will not buy another Gerber.
