I just picked this up today from the bass prop shop. I was looking at the Gerbers and the Leathermans both online and decided to go with the Gerber. I haven't used it yet, which is why I only gave it three stars - I'm not sure exactly how it will perform in the field but I'm sure it'll do just fine.
Anyway, the main thing I see everyone complaining about is that the tools are hard to get out of the casing. I don't have that trouble at all. It seems they have come well lubed. The weight is nice, the spring loaded pliers are nice, though I suppose the knives could be a little sharper.
Overall, I'm very excited to have this multitool - especially since it's my first one.

I like the quality of this tool. The workmanship is very good, it looks better in person than it did in the pictures. It opens smoothly into sturdy pliers that seem very functional. The blades are secure and they lock firmly in place, I think they will be safe to use to the point of abuse. I cut a board with the saw, it isn't a cross-cut but it works better than I expected. It would be enough to cut poles for a shelter or small branches for a fire. The knifes were sharp, with a few strokes a ceramic sharpener they took a good edge. Even the case seems durably made, my only complaint is the belt loop is only large enough for a narrow belt, it measures about 1 3/4 inches.Customer Review: A solid tool

This tool is comfortably large and more than adequately sturdy as you're using it, and folds remarkably compactly, although it remains a heavy and somwhat bulky object to keep at your hip (as I do). The compact folded position, features such as printed diagrams of blades and well-spaced tabs, and a mechanism that locks tools in place when folded out are all features of a strong well thought-out design with all the attention to detail one hopes for in a complex tool.
The selection of included tools is large and versatile, such that I'm comfortable saying that anything you can't manage with this you should really be carrying a separate tool for anyway.

I bought the Gerber Suspension as a replacement for one that was confiscated when I was traveling through an airport (...my fault for not realizing it was in my back pack). In any case, the Suspension works just as the earlier one did and I think in many ways is more user friendly than a comparable Leatherman.
The only thing I liked less about the new Suspension is that it did not come with the accessory tool kit (drive attachment and 10 bits), so I had to buy that separately. Also, the case is somewhat smaller, so the accessory tool kit has to be stored in a separate pouch.
I would buy again, and the price was right from Amazon.

i like this tool, but it's a little heavy, and bulky. there are a few tools that are excessive for this device, and i'm not sure how handy the tool bits are. the bits are magnetized, but the conversion bit that attaches to the tool itself does not stay on very well. i like that all of the fold out tools are locking, but the locking mechanism isn't very smooth.
i would like a little more slimmed down version of this, with a larger knife, and without the tools. i can't really complain that it has a lot of tools though, convenience is the main idea with tools like this. the price is excellent, so i can't bring myself to drop this below 4 stars.
