Like most of the other reviewers here, I too looked at several options before buying the Legend. The design is a bit fussier than the wave but you can tell a lot more design went into it. It feels on the heavy side and also a bit larger than the competition but when you hold one and feel how solidly everything clicks into place you know the extra money is getting you a lot of tool.I agree that the pliers could open wider so I machined mine to make it so. The difference it makes just by removing a small bit of steel makes the whole thing 100% perfect. My pliers opens wider altogether but more importantly it now opens to a usable width without my hand being at full stretch, meaning I can grip more powerfully. It's just a shame Gerber didn't think of the same mod.
Buy one - you won't be disappointed.

I've had this tool for at least seven years (soon after it came out I think) and have loved it. We run a small horse farm and I tend to use multi-tools until they either break or I get too frustrated with them.
I went through several Leatherman tools and none of them were up to the task. Finally I splurged on the Gerber MP800 and haven't looked back since.
It's tough, it's got everything I need, and it's a nice size... not small and flimzy like other tools.
Great customer service... I broke one of the plier stops and sent the knife in. They sent a whole new one back even though I had used that tool almost daily for two years. Wonderful.

I have used other multiplier tools before, but this one seems to be one the best ones out there. I use it for all kinds of stuff, whether it is haning out with friends camping, or another tool in my garage, it always seems to be coming in handy. plus it puts leatherman versions to shame because when you take one tool out it it does not take out all the others with it, i.e. pulling out the screw driver on it will not pry out the bottle opener, which is a much nicer and makes it easier to use. Defenitally a great gift item as well, I got mine for my birthday and I know what I am going to be getting my friends for Christmas!Customer Review: only a little better than a rock

In one month of use, this knife broke in four places. I sent it back with a few suggestions like "The metal seems a bit brittle, perhaps something that bends first..." Althouth Gerber quickly replaced the knife, they included a note to me with the phrase "Your concerns are not a reflection of our product." With this level of both customer care and commitment to improving their products, Gerber fails miserably. I Therefore consider this tool only a little better than a rock. I threw out the knife (not wishing to share the pain of owning it) and bought a Leatherman which I have been unable to dent in 3 months.Customer Review: The Gerber for all your needs

I have owned a Gerber Multitool for quite a while now. I have always preferred the to the Leatherman but that is just my personal opinion. This Gerber has replaceable wire cutting inserts to ensure a longer life and better cuts. The older Gerber's would only cut wires for a short time before they became damaged. The Gerber Legend is designed for the handyman who has to do a little bit of everything. I admit it is a more expensive then some of the other models but for what I use it for I think it was worth the investment. I give this one 5 stars.
