Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gerber 08239 MP800 Legend MultitoolCustomer Review: best tool ever made Summary: 5 Stars
This multi tool is so good that I had to think to myself is this for real! The tool is almost half the original price and I say worth every penny for the whole price. The scissors cut through my jeans, the spring loaded pliers are great, and the locking mechanism is wonderful. It is perfect for my big hands and is light too. Lastly the wire cutters cut through anything as well as the remgrit saw blade which is REPLACEABLE!This tool is the best off all time and I would recommend this tool to any heavy duty worker. I love it and I think you will to.
Customer Review: The Gerber 600 is much better Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this for my boyfriend and promptly returned it. I was getting it for him to replace his lost 600. The things that we did not like about this tool were: 1) cheesy black grippy things that looked like they were going to come off if wet, and 2) you can't do the cool thing where you hold the multitool, flick your wrist, and the pliers extend with a satisfying little snap! It's also a bit larger than the 600, so unless you have big pockets or don't care about size, you might want to go for the more compact 600.
Customer Review: Handyman's special Summary: 4 Stars
I have had a Gerber MP800 for several years now. I own a construction/handyman company and I never leave home without this very handy tool. I had to break down and buy a new one when I finally destroyed my last one (ran over by a tractor - still worked but hard to open)
It's like a mini tool set on your belt for the quick stuff, ie: tighten a screw, cut/open packages, quick electrical wire stripping. I've had the Leatherman's, Swiss Army, etc, but I swear by the Gerbers...it's a great little tool!
Customer Review: Great Tool Summary: 5 Stars
This tool has most of the features you could want. There are a few niggles, however. For example, the tool holster however, lacks the puch for the driver bit adapter and bits that can be used on the large phillips and the tool itself is too large to fit into other Gerber holsters that have a pouch for the adapter and bits. Also the handles are slippery with the kraton inserts not located in the places where grip is needed. This can easily be solved by applying skateboard tape to the appropriate locations.
Customer Review: Mostly Good, But Barely Summary: 2 Stars
There have already been some excellent and extensive reviews, so I have little to add. Although this tool is solidly constructed, I find it too bulky to carry, yet not bulky enough to alow the screwdrivers to be easily pried out. The saw is rather useless (another blade should be included), and while the scissors seemed strong, the weld holding the spring to the blade broke without extensive or intensive use. I consider these major flaws and would not recommend purchase--unless the price falls below $20.
