Customer Review: spend a few more bucks and get the leatherman micra, its worth it

I recently had my Leatherman Micra confiscated at the airport (forgot to put it in my checked luggage and they don't allow such things as carry-on items anymore!), so I headed to target to purchase a replacement Micra as I use it frequently at work.
I saw the Gerber shortcut at almost half the price and had heard Gerber made a good multitool, so I gave it a shot.
Bad idea! The scissors especially is much weaker and has a lot of trouble cutting through things the micra just tore through. Especially plastic loading straps. The gerber scissors 'bounce' off the loading straps more often than not, and often get dislocated trying to make a cut. Whereas the Leatherman micra could often cut two at a time.
This one LOOKS cooler, but does not handle the same workload. Decide what is more important to you.

All I needed was a pocketknife with scissors, but I was sick of buying small pocketknives that had useless scissors. These scissors do what you would expect them to do, they cut. When you want to cut something without using the blade use the scissors, they work great.
The other tools seem to be useful as well, but haven't seen any use as of yet. You might want to know that the tweezers are small, and may be difficult to use because of their size. On the plus side of the small tweezers, they are attached to the rest of the multi-tool so you don't have to worry about loosing them as long as you have the Shortcut.

I've had this multi-tool about 3 years now, and mainly used it while fishing. It's light, compact, and just right for cutting fishing line. I was really happy with it and decided to write this review. Then ironically, just as I opened it up to look at it before writing this, the retention clip for the scissors broke! Now the scissors, which is what I mainly used, is worthless. So instead of giving it 4 stars, I'm giving it 3 (it did last about 3 years, and it's pretty inexpensive). Now I'm going to try the leatherman micro as a replacement.Customer Review: multi-tool

The best thing about this multi-tool is that the point is not plyers but scissors. Extremely useful for fishing, camping and various small household chores. I highly recommend this tool and the price is exceptional. We buy extras and give as gifts. Always appreciated.Customer Review: gerber tool

I already own this multi-tool but ordered it for a gift for someone else. I have loved mine and used it often, especially when traveling. It is very durable and the scissors really work. Also received this product quickly and in good condition.
