Customer Review: Gerber Chinese Stockman

This knife comes in a sealed plastic package used for merchandise in hanging displays. The type you have to cut open to get the product out. No box. Description on the package says 2.5 in blade, 1.6 ounces, filigreed bolsters, made in china. Because the onlays are stag they can vary in thickness. I saw a thin version of this knife and a too thick version. The quality of the workmanship looks good. No defects found. Operates smoothly. The blade only says GERBER. No indication of the quality of the steel. Does not say stainless so probably isn't. It is an OK knife but nothing special. It will work fine for carrying in my pocket. I won't be upset if I lost it. I won't buy another one. I already have plenty of everyday pocket knives. I bought it on sale under $11 at Amazon, for less than half what some other vendors are selling it. At that sale price I give it three stars for relative value since it is stag. It's worth the sale price, but I'm disappointed at what Gerber has become. At full price I would be very disappointed. It's not a Case. It's not a knife I would show off because of the style or brand. It's more like "Look at this new stag handle knife, I got it cheap".
