Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gladiator GarageWorks GACUXXCAVK Claw Advanced Bike Storage, v1.0, Aluminum

Customer Review: Better-Than-the-Rest Bike Storage
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The Gladiator GarageWorks Claw bike storage system works perfectly. Each claw flawlessly holds one bike and getting your bike in and out of it is simple: You simply push up on your bike's tire to activate the plunger in the center of the claw and the claw closes securely around the tire. When you want to remove your bike you simply push up again and the claw opens so you can get your bike out, and it stays open until you want to store your bike again. Installation is simple as well: You drill two holes into a suitable beam and install the two included lag screws into the base. The base has four sets of installation holes to give you options depending on how the beams run in your garage ceiling. This is the perfect, easy-to-use space-saving device to help tidy up your garage!

Customer Review: Not worth the $$
Summary: 2 Stars

The idea behind this rack is really neat, have the bike out of the way and off the floor, kind of like a J-hook. I had a terrible time getting the screws in correctly as thye were a close fit. Standing on a ladder while trying, with no success, to get the Claw installed caused a cramp in my neck. I was never able to get the unit installed correctly, though I have read reviews of those who were able to get their Claw installed with no problem. My J-hooks install with no problem, so I am continuing to use them. Like the claw, J-hooks have a rubber/plastic area on the hook that does not scratch or mar the bikes wheels.

The proce is a stiff kick. If you are looking to impress the neighbors or family with a cook bike rackm than this is for you. If you'd rather have a simple to install and multi-functional rack, then ge the J-hook.

Customer Review: WOW! Fantastic product. Easy to install and use.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This may seem a bit pricey for something a large hook mounted on your roof could do seemingly as well. They both hold your bike upright anyway. If you have ever tried to lift your bike up onto a roof mounted hook it is a bit awkward to say the least. Rarely can you get it up there in one smooth motion. The wheels make the whole load very front heavy and I find I have to struggle to gain control and hook the front tire. I've made quite a few black marks on the walls in the process. With the Gladiator it is much easier to do in one smooth motion. You just have to hit the button with the front wheel. A couple of times and I was doing it very easily. Getting the bike down is even easier since the tire is almost hitting the button already.

Customer Review: Certainly better than a hook.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
There are certainly cheaper, less expensive solutions for hanging a bike from the ceiling of your garage, but the Gladiator Claw is superior in both looks and ease of use.

It is very easy to install. I used a stud finder to locate the ceiling joist under the sheet rock. Then I used an electric screwdriver to quickly attach it to the ceiling with the two screws that are included in the package. Start to finish it took 3 minutes to install. I spent more time contemplating where to put the Claw than I spent actually installing it.

It works very easily both in and out. But what I like best about the Claw is that its design prevents putting black tire marks on the ceiling.

Customer Review: A Better Bike Hook.
Summary: 4 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is a great device. It mounts on the ceiling of your garage (or bachelor pad) and holds a bike suspended. Sounds pretty simple, and of course there are plenty of bike hooks on the market already. But this hook is different. Instead of having to maneuver your bike over the hook and catch it in the right spot, you just push the wheel and the hook does the rest. It's great. Plus it looks really cool. It is solidly built and I imagine this device will be in operation for many years without fail.

Sure, it's more expensive than a standard hook, but - if you've invested hundreds or even thousands of dollar into your bicycle, $50 isn't going to break the bank. I recommend the Gladiator GarageWorks claw.
