Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gladiator GarageWorks GACUXXCAVK Claw Advanced Bike Storage, v1.0, AluminumCustomer Review: It Works Well, But... Summary: 2 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is a slick, innovative product that works well & is very attractive. Everyone who sees it thinks it is cool & easy to use.
BUT, I have to ask - is it really worth the substantial price differential between this item and a plain, ol' plastic coated J-hook that can be purchased at any hardware or home improvement store for only 3% - 4% as much? I just don't think so. It really isn't any easier to use than a J-hook, provides no additional functionality, yet costs much, MUCH more. Furthermore, I question how long the working mechanisms of the unit will last, as they are considerably lighter-duty that I expected (both myself & my wife thought the unit was much lighter when we picked it up the first time than we expected when we saw it online & I ordered it).
So, unless you have the money to burn & are into & must have the latest gadgets, I'd recommend you instead go to the hardware store and buy a plastic coated J-hook. And save $57 or so.
Customer Review: works as advertised Summary: 5 Stars

this is a useful device for hanging a bicycle from a ceiling joist or beam. It is very easy to install, and works as described: lift a wheel into the device to hang it, the arms close around the wheel; lift again to disengage the arms. The critical bits (arms and base) are made of metal.
So why not use a $2 hook? Well, I've knocked a number of bikes off of plain hooks, it's just gravity holding that bike up there. This system is a positive lock that takes an intentional lifting of the bike to disengage. Also, this is going to look way better indoors.
I don't really understand the comments about the screw holes: use the mounting holes that are 90 degrees offset from the arms, two screws are plenty to hold a bicycle. And unless you have a 4x4 up in the ceiling, you can only use two screws. If you're really insistent on using all four screw holes, I had no problem installing screws in the holes under the arms with a power screwdriver.
Customer Review: Slick Overpriced Hook Summary: 3 Stars

Let me rant first. For your average consumer, this has to be one of the most ridiculous items available. For this price, you could put up about 30 Overhead Storage Hook, 6 3/16" (which are also overpriced) and hang 30 of your favorite bicycles, friends, pets etc. I was shocked to see it wasn't being sold by one of those "high end" companies that tend to sport things such as a portable neck air conditioner and a personal air purifier (it surrounds you in clean air, wherever you may roam!)...
With that being said, it is actually a very well made item that works great. The open/close function on it was flawless with my bike. Easy to install and easy to use.
If I owned a bike shop, or thought this item was designed for non-consumer use, it would probably get a better rating. But for "joe six pack" this item is just plain ridiculous.
Customer Review: Solid Device, Albeit Pricy Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
If you're short on space and tough on your bikes like I am, this little invention is a great piece of equipment. Installation was "easy" but a little bit annoying trying to find a decent place to anchor, especially if you're not the kind of person who stores their bikes in their garage.
Most people wouldn't need a device like this, particularly in their garage, where simple hooks will do. You should buy this device over screw-hooks for the following reasons:
1. You plan to hang your bike in a place that receives a lot of foot traffic. The Claw keeps the bike stationary even when it's bumped.
2. You plan to keep your bike in your house and don't want giant hooks jutting from your wall or ceiling.
3. You lack upper body strength. The claw makes it easy to hoist and secure your bike without holding it up and "aiming" for a single hook.
4. You have extra money to burn.
Customer Review: GREAT item - esp for women, elderly or double tandem bikes! Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This just arrived a couple hours ago and DH installed without problem. We have regular bikes AND a tandem two-person bike. We also have regular bike racks including one highly ranked lift system that sells here on Amazon for much less. Unfortunately, the tandem bike is a bit heavy and very cumbersome so I'm never able to navigate it on my own. Problem solved - this is easy to use, takes less space, doesn't have annoying ropes hanging down to get tangled and is GREAT for those with a smaller build that find regular bike racks hard to manage. This is really very ingenious - works great and well worth the extra cash. Seems to be built well and I would expect it to last. I should mention, we have a higher than average ceiling in the garage so it makes a difference when it comes to bike racks...stellar product that I'm very impressed with! Now if they would put it on sale so I can buy another - the old bike racks will be donated.
