Tools and Hardware Reviews of Gladiator GarageWorks GACUXXCAVK Claw Advanced Bike Storage v1.0Customer Review: Easy to use, worth the money Summary: 5 StarsI wasn't sure if this little bike storage device would be worth it. How much better could it be than my little doo-dad I already have hanging from the garage? The answer: much better! I'm 5'4", and this makes reaching up and dealing with overhead bike storage a breeze. It's super-easy to use and it is delicate with my bike. I'm really happy with it and would recommend it.
Customer Review: Gladiator Claw Summary: 5 StarsI really like this product, it is well made and easy to use. I plan on purchasing more of these.
Customer Review: I guess P.T. Barnum was right... Summary: 1 Stars...there IS one born every minute. While cool to look at, it is WAY more difficult to mount and dismount the bike from this device than a standard hook as you have to lift the bike higher and PUSH the button to do so. Not for folks that already have trouble with a traditional hook. For those that purchased the Gladiator GarageWorks GACUXXCAVK Claw Advanced Bike Storage v1.0, you might be interested in my new PAn-atomic PapER CLamping Instrument Prototype. Customer Review: Bike Claw Summary: 4 StarsA very cool product. I too bought this because I thought it looked/worked very neat. It does what it says it does but still not sure why you'd use this over a regular J hook. The claw is larger than it looks in these pictures and because it needs to open completely keep in mind that you'll have to install it a few inches away from the wall.
I should also note that because every bikes is different, the weight is placed differently and allows the bike to hang on an angle. So Don't expect your bike to sit perfectly vertical on the wall. Now I want another one so I can attach it to both tires!
Customer Review: Does exactly what it says, but not worth the money to me. Summary: 3 StarsAs many others have said, this is a fancy gadget that allows you to hang your bike on the ceiling with ease. The problem is that it only improves on the easy of use of the simple rubber covered bike hook a little and for 12 times the cost, you should expect more. Being that the device works exactly as promised, I am writing this review more on the value of the item.
My first thought when looking at the package was this is a $60 item? It seem like the cheaper $30ish bike hanging items I had seen at Target (that then were marked down to $7.50 when they failed to sell). Upon opening the packaging I was more impress--by the feel of the item and the light weight nature of it. I was shocked that it appeared to be missing a screw (as there were more holes then screws) but then upon reading the directions, I decided not all holes were required to be mounted with screws. (My thought still stands that they show include more screws so if you WANT to, you can fully secure it as you wish.)
As I said above, once installed this unit worked like it is supposed to and made hanging my bike a little easier once I got used to using it. My wife thought it was neat, but was shocked at the cost vs. our normal red bike hooks. I know if I had purchased this locally, she would have had me return it--even if it had been for her bike but since it was installed it stayed.
Overall, this item seems like it should cost $30 at the most and I am guessing if you pay more you will be disappointed with the value of the item especially since it has moving parts that very well may fail in the future...causing you to go out and get some of those simple red hooks!
