Customer Review: Hard to find bulb

The lamp works well enough and seems sturdy. My issue is the bulb is not a standard light bulb which I thought it was when I purchased it. I use 13 watt cfls in all my lights and when I saw this included a 13 watt cfl, I stopped reading the description.
Had I read on, I would have learned that the bulb is not a standard cfl, but has a GU24 base which is hard to find and expensive.
The only place I seem to be able to find them is Amazon and a few other online retailers, and they are around $8.00 per bulb. Half the price of the lamp. I can buy 8 packs of standard 13 watt cfls from amazon for $10.00, so this seems really expensive to me...
This bulb isn't going to last the rated 7 years either, none of them do. When it burns out, I'll remove the socket and replace it with a standard screw socket so I don't end up throwing the lamp away.

Honestly, this is ridiculous. The lamp itself is a bit dim, but that's fine, since it's energy saving and all. What's ridiculous about this lamp is the fact that the switch is an absolute b**** to turn on, just like someone else mentioned. I don't know whether it was because I ran into bad luck and got one with a bad switch, but the switch turns with such difficulty that everyone who visits my room can't get the lamp on! Even I can't unless I grapple with it, hurting my hands in the process. The switch is obviously made in China: "Linhua" is printed on it, which I am completely fine with as long as it works, which it has trouble doing! I almost wanted to return this but I already chucked the box, so now I'm left with a bad lamp. Thanks, GE.

The lamp works and I haven't found the light to be too dim. The box says the lightbulb included will work for years and the replacement is $6.66 in Amazon, so the unusual ballast of the bulb shouldn't be a problem. My only complaint is its appearance. The color makes the metal look more like cheap plastic, and it isn't appealing. I have a very similar lamp bought at Walmart for the same price, and the finish is brushed chrome... what a difference!Customer Review: working great

I like this lamp. Energy savings is a plus but I really like the design. Kind of like the old school 60s stuff you used to see (and probably sometimes still do). Not so retro that it will go out of style anytime soon either.
A nice, basic lamp. If you're looking for something that is more functional than flashy, this is a winner.

The desk lamp worked great for few weeks.. I thought the bulb was suppose to last 9 years.. I would have been happy with a year, but a few weeks of use either the bulb or the lamp is not working!!!! I'll try buying new bulbs and hopefully this will fix the problem.. If not.. I hope I can return the item.
