I assembled it in no time using only my rubber camping mallet. I did the "workbench" (two seperate units) configuration and put it in my partially finished basement - one for seasonal decorations and the other to hold my shipping supplies and stuff for Ebay. I would have liked if the shelves were a bit deeper for my bigger storage totes, but they are the perfect depth if you reuse the cases that quarts of oil come in (as I do). This is a pretty good entry-level shelving unit for light duty use.
