Customer Review: Good lighting but the lamp design leaves a bit to be desired

I first want to point out that the main product image does not match the lamp that I received. Check the submitted customer image to see how it really looks. As noted in the product description, the lamp has a computer gray or beige finish. The base and head are beige while the easily flexible neck is a darker shade of gray. The material for the head and the base looks alright, but the flexible neck is sort of ugly and cheap. This is not some stylish executive lamp. I was disappointed with the look of the lamp not matching my black computer system, but I kept it and I am glad that I did.
I have the lamp on top of a small speaker on my desk and next to an LCD monitor. The full spectrum lighting has made reading the screen, books and papers much easier in comparison to my old lamp. The lamp emits little heat and supposedly it is energy efficient. According to the manufacturer, the special bulbs last 5 times longer than normal ones - I would take that claim with a grain of salt so you will want to purchase a few replacement bulbs along with the lamp.

I just got my lamp and the assembly was very simple and quick. The instructions, although they were confusing to me at first (my first product assembly), they quickly became easy and straight forward. It took me roughly 15 minutes to remove the lamp from the box and assemble it. There were no small parts, just remove and attach the neck piece to the base of the lamp by sliding in the cords that connect the base to the neck into the neck's innerds. Afterwards, just screw in the neck to the base, plug it into an outlet and enjoy.
The brightness is amazing considering it is has an energy conserving bulb, it provides perfect light for reading, writing, or whatever task you need light for. The neck is easy to bend and retains a solid feel, unlike other lamps that feel a bit flimsy and cheap. This is an extremely great buy overall, truly worth the money it is going for. Thank you for a great product Grandrich. =)

I am a bookworm, and I bought this lamp to provide the proper light for reading. The light is in the spectrum that mimics natural sunlight, so it minimizes eye strain. It is meant to be a table lamp-- the light doesn't cast very far. It's perfect for setting on a nightstand; the neck swivels so that you can direct the light right to what you're reading. The base is fairly large, which provides good stability, but you should be prepared to clear a space for it to sit on. Mine fits on a fairly small nightstand and there's still room for books, alarm clock, etc. The switch to turn it on or off is located at the top of the lamp, which is a bit awkward when you're trying to reach it from bed, but that really is the only thing I'd change about it. I've been using mine nightly for four months, and so far it's still going strong. My eyes no longer get as tired as they did from reading with a regular bedside lamp.Customer Review: Worth the money !

After a lot of research about reading lamps, i finally bought this through amazon. It arrived in 4 days and was nicely packed. It came with a warranty paper and instructions to assemble it. It was very easy to fix and though first time after fixing when i tried to adjust its neck it creaked a little, but later i could adjust its height easily. The spectrum of light was good, the light was soft, the bulb did not heat too much (though they did heat up).
I found it ideal for reading, sewing, knitting, art work. The base is very stable, does not tend to fall, (given that the height of neck including the head is considerable). Customer Review: Excellent Desk Lamp

I purchased this desk lamp because my old drafting table fluorescent lamp had finally died. This lamp is very reasonably priced, compared to many others similar desk lamps that cost a lot more. The light color is what I call "cool white" and is ideal for review of fine detail drawings, etc.
When I first plugged in the lamp it came on for a second or so, then went dead (ballast ?). I returned the lamp to amazon.com for an exchange and was really impressed with their on-line return system (even lets you print out pre-paid shipping labels !). They promptly shipped me a replacement lamp that has worked fine so far.
The only concern I have is that the fluorescent light tube is a special design that is not available from any hardware store; you will have to order it from the lamp manufacturer.
