Customer Review: Worked for 5 minutes - then nothing

Just purchased this item for my office. Put it together, turned it on and was happy for 5 minutes. Then it just stopped working. Tried another light bulb from a lamp that was working and it still didn't work. Tried several different outlets, etc. Still nothing. I'm not happy that this only lasted 5 minutes. I have been very impressed so far with this lamp. Rock solid design. The goose neck is very flexible, and can be moved away to create more space when not in use. The lamp is VERY bright; I have had to move away from the lamp when reading in order to get to a comfortable reading distance. Overall, an excellent product. Light has an awfully large footprint. The light color (rather harsh blue-white) may be good for some things but not for my eyes when I want to do some reading - I still prefer an incandescent for that. Also, the 4 prong plugin bulb may be hard to find replacements for - haven't seen anything like it except for growlight bulbs for a friend's Aerogarden.Customer Review: Bright Lamp, Too Much Glare

This is a very bright lamp and is good for a lot of things except for reading. It puts too much of a glare on my pages and is really frustrating. I have moved it a few feet higher and further back and it seemed to have helped a little, but there is still a very distracting glare. I bought a Verilux lamp last year for reading at home and I have this lamp at the salon over my nail table. This lamp is 99% the same as the brand that costs twice as much. It does not have the cheapy grid like reflector to cover the bulb, but I say why spend 35.00 more to get that crappy feature. I put them side by side and they are the same!!!!!
