Tools and Hardware Reviews of Greenlite NL/WH/3/1/CD/1 - LED 3-in-1 Night Light, Emergency Light, & Flashlight - GREAT STOCKING STUFFER!

Customer Review: Long battery life
Summary: 5 Stars

I have several of these lights and have been very happy with them.
I've already had several power cuts since purchasing the light and they've worked perfectly without dimming even after power cuts lasting for over three hours.

The light is not terribly bright but it's good enough that you won't be bumping into furniture during a power outage. The light is at its brightest when the power is off.
When its used as a nightlight it is a little dimmer but still bright enough to see your way around.
The intensity of the light will vary depending on how dark the room is. In the late afternoon when the sun is still outside it will be very dim but will brighten up as the room becomes darker. Although there is a photo sensor on the light a loss of power will turn the light on regardless of how dark or light the room is.

The light stays on a lot longer than the round emergency plug in lights that I've used in the past and it looks a lot better than them. I do think it would look even better without the flashlight part of the light and I would prefer to purchase a version like that if they'd offer it.

When plugging into a double outlet it still leaves room for a small plug to go into the outlet next to it.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase and the only changes I would make would be to make it a little smaller.

Jan 2008:
They're still working two years after originally purchasing them.

February 2010:
They're still working four years after originally purchasing them but one of them doesn't hold the charge as long as it used to. That's to be expected after such a long time and after so many power outages.

Customer Review: Worth the Money
Summary: 5 Stars

I initially bought three then ordered five more. I'm very satisfied with all aspects of this light. It doesn't cover the second outlet such that the second outlet is unuseable, but whatever is plugged into the second outlet must be a conservative size plug. As an example, I can still plug in a cell phone charger, a multi-plug outlet, a vacuum cleaner cord, coffee pot, or TV set - any one of these plug in adjacent to this night light.

I'm replacing older emergency lights that use a standard bulb and have quit holding a charge, therefore, excepting their night light function, their usefullness is gone. Those were Walmart clearance items and probably lasted maybe a year - I got what I paid for. I don't know how long the rechargeable battery will last in these new 3-in-1 emergency lights but hopefully more than a year.

As a night light, the light is white rather than the typical yellow of a standard night light bulb and is brighter which some might find annoying if placed in a bedroom. If the power goes off the night light LEDs turn into an emergency flood which really lights up the immediate area. A slide switch on the side converts it from a flood light to a flashlight.

We live in a 2-story home, all bedrooms upstairs, and the safety and security of my family is foremost. This seems to be a good product and assuming it lasts a few years, it is a good investment in our safety.

Customer Review: A Hurricane Season Must
Summary: 5 Stars

Our hurricane planning included emergency lights to replace several that no longer work. I did an extensive "google", and found the best reviews for this light. And for good reason. It is a great night light, which gives it a very practical use when not in "emergency" mode. (I have to add that my wife does not think it is a good night light because it is too "dull". That is why I think it is a great night light, because, in my opinion, it's not glaring! You'll have to arrive at your own opinion, but I feel a night light should give a hint of what you are seeing, and not be a head light.) The flashlight part is very practical. First, in a power failure, it will automatically go on. Secondly, if you need a flashlight, just pull it out of the receptical and flick the switch to "on", and it's a flashlight. Again, it is not going to light up the neighborhood, but you do want it to show you around when you need to find items, such as candles, and the bigger flashlights. I would recommend Greenlite for any home use.

Customer Review: finally, a usable led nightlight with a emergency bonus!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been waiting for a long time to have the nightlight and emergency flashlight integrated, so had to try this once I found out about it. I figured, LED based so probably useless like all the other led or green luminscents nightlights, but this one is done *right*. It uses two white led's for the nightlight function, which is plenty bright compared to incandescent nightlights. If power goes out, the two front led's light up full brightness which is great. The flashlight is not so great, has a single led and seems pretty dim. But with the front led's, its not really a big deal.

I've tried many nightlight variants on my kids over the years, so they approached these with significant misgivings. "Dad's playing with his tech toys again". But they like them, my son is somewhat afraid of the dark and he really likes them.

I'd say if your kid needs a 7W bulb, it might not be bright enough. But if you use a 4W bulb, this will do the trick nicely.

Customer Review: handy and affordable
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for my parents, after they experienced a power outage at night and had trouble finding their flashlights. So this is now in their bedroom. At first, I didn't like the idea of the little red light being on all of the time, but it does make it easier to locate it at night (but when the power isn't out). They haven't experienced another outage for me to confirm that it lights up when the power goes out - certainly when I pull it out of the outlet, it just is "off". It's nice that it has the option of being a nightlight also, but it'd be a white light, which they don't care for as much as their other blue nightlight. I have used it as a flashlight - it's handy to have, but not exactly ergonomically designed - it's wide and flat. It leaves the other outlet available, which is important in their house. I don't think you'd go wrong with this one. You may also want to look at the battery-powered LED motion sensor lights - VERY handy to mount at stairways.
