Tools and Hardware Reviews of Grizzly G0555 The Ultimate 14" BandsawCustomer Review: Grizzly Ultimate 14" bandsaw Summary: 5 Stars
I have been sending Grizzly Industrial a lot of business over the last couple of years to include a 14" bench top drill press, 35.5" lathe, dust collector and an asssortment of other items. The saw arrived quickly and in perfect shape, my shop is upstairs in my barn so a second person is needed to carry the saw itself if you are going to be negotiating stairs. Set up took no time, just the stand and putting the table/trunion on. Adjustments are perfect from the factory, just align the bearing blade guides and start making saw dust. Great tool for all types of wood, plenty of power, quiet, and finally a band saw with the dust port located where it is supposed to be, and a REAL rip fence included! I will definitely get the riser kit for re-saw applications. My advise for the small shop owner, buy it...you won't be disappointed. I looked at many others prior to making this purchase and you can't beat the price and quality. Also, look for their items made in ISO factories. Neal A. Douglas ATC(AW/SW) USN Gouverneur, NY
Customer Review: Great saw, especially considering the Price Summary: 5 Stars
I sold my old Craftsman 12" tilting head bandsaw, due to lack of power and limited resawing capacity. This saw is so much better, it is like night and day. I purchased the saw, riser kit and several blades. I was able to install the riser by myself but that is not recommended (get help putting the saw together). The set up and manual are very straight forward and easy to follow. I put a 1/2" 3tpi blade in it and cut a 7" thick walnut bowl blank to test it out. It did that no problem, so I resawed the 12" diameter blank in two. No problem, keep in mind that this is green wood. However, still very impressive for a 14" bandsaw. The only hang up was that I paid for lift gate service and in the end the frieght company made me pick it up at there dock. However, Grizzly refunded the lift gate charge and was very good about, it they even called back to make sure I was ok with the refund. Great Customer service. I look forward to many years of service from this saw.
Customer Review: Fantastic Saw, Fantastic Value Summary: 5 Stars
I've now owned this saw for 8 or so years having bought it right around when it first started getting reviews on the online fora like [...] and Sawmill Creek. Since then it's been reviewed by pretty much all of the woodworking magazines and always gets high scores. My saw has worked flawlessly, was easy to assemble and has done everything I've asked it to do. I added a magnetic light, the HTC mobile base and a Carter improved bearing guide - not that it didn't do a fine job with the original - the Carter only improved an already great saw. If I were to re-purchase I think I would get the new G0555X model - only for the additional horsepower as compared to newer saws as this one would now be under-powered - not that it really was or is, it's all about the feed speed. For resawing I use a 1/2" Woodslicer - for everything else a 1/4" or 3/16" blade has sufficed. I've bought the riser block but so far haven't found the need for it so it's still in the box - I guess one of these days I'll put it on.
Customer Review: Excellent Value, Excellent Features Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Grizzly unit at one of their tent sales -- I hadn't managed to find anything I wanted in the tents, so I wandered into the store, and simply couldn't drag myself away without at least buying something! As it happens, I made a good choice. The unit was well packed and easy to assemble, and the blade ran true -- once I'd figured out how to correctly adjust the guide bearings. Despite warnings from a friend about the folly of using a bandsaw for rip cuts, I found that the Grizzly ripped perfectly without any adjustment to the fence, to the point where I now use the bandsaw for many small cuts I'd previously have done on my (albeit rather down-market) table saw. As far as price is concerned, I don't think you can beat the Grizzly for bang for the buck. You get a good all-round saw, with an excellent fence and a reasonably solid miter gauge, all for a price well below the competition. I'd heartily recommend this saw for anyone else looking for a 14" model to add to their shop.
Customer Review: This bandsaw rocks! Summary: 5 Stars
I am not going to go over most of the positives that were mentioned numerous times by other reviewers. Here are some positive points not mentioned as often: 1.) Fit and finish are excellent. And I love the "Grizzly Green" poweder coat metallic paint.2.) Packaging design is exceptional. The box obviously got bumped around a bit in transit, but the contents were perfectly protected. 3.) Instruction manual was very clear. They even give you a chance to give them feedback to improve the manual. 4.) I did have trouble with the delivery company. I called Grizzly to get it straightened out. They jumped all over themselves trying to make it right. Grizzly customer service is world class. 5.) Technical support also is excellent. I have not needed them on this product, but have gotten clear, quick help from them on other products. In my opinion, you can not buy a better 14" bandsaw for the money, and perhaps not for twice the price.
