Tools and Hardware Reviews of Grout Grabber GG001 Grout Removal Tool for Most Reciprocating Saws or SawzallsCustomer Review: This tool is Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this tool so that I could remove selected floor tiles for some kitchen remodeling. It is outstanding! is tears the grout out like a hot knife through butter. You have to be careful because it will also cut in to the subfloor, in my case concrete. It is not "dustless" as the package claims, but the dust is coarse enough to not really get airborne. The only problem that I had was that I had to go elsewhere on the internet to get additional cutter blades. They show using 4 blades to remove wider grout lines. Get one more blade, then space them out with washers to get the desired witdth. If there is any grout left in between it will pop out easily. This tool works as advertised, and will make your tile removal / re-grouting job a lot easier!
Customer Review: DIFFICULT CHORE SO MUCH EASIER AND FASTER Summary: 5 Stars
Dear John Laurent, I wanted to let you know how satisfied we are with your Grout Grabber, grout removal tool. We are a good size ceramic tile contracting firm and we have to remove and replace tile on a daily basis. Your product has made this difficult chore so much easier and faster. Prior to purchasing the Grout Grabber tile and grout removal was a terribly messy job. customers would complain about the dust created by the old process. Now we remove the grout with the Grout Grabber which causes very minimal dust which makes our installers, as well as our customers very happy. We have been very pleased with the longevity of the blades used to remove the grout and with the Grout Grabber tool as a whole. Thank you for making this great tool!
Customer Review: Works Great but replacement blades are an issue Summary: 3 Stars
I'm in the process of remodeling a bathroom. I was looking for a means of removing the grout between tiles that would produce a minimum level of dust. The grout grabber worked wonderfully. However, the blade wore out relatively quickly (worn to the point no more carbide grit is visible on the blade) and the high cost of the blades (measured as a percentage of the original cost of the tool) coupled with the small number of places that carry replacements has forced me to consign the grout grabber to the bottom of my tool box. I am considering modifying the grabber to use the standard carbide grout blades that are available at my local home center but that is a project for another day.
Customer Review: Best Regrouting Option!! Summary: 4 Stars
I have 380 sq ft of ceramic 1'x1' tiles in my kitchen and down the hall, this SIMPLE tool made the job do-able with only chipping (2) tiles. Don't get me wrong I had some hard grout and it took me 16.5 hrs and 8 double blade (2 blades at a time) changes...I wore those blades down to a nub and they still cut. If I would had used a circle saw my house would still be in a cloud of dust and I also tried the rotozip thing (my first plunge I was chipping tiles). I only gave 4 stars because of the dust. It's not dustless but it definalty is less dust. BUY IT!!
Customer Review: A REALLY GOOD WAY TO REMOVE FLOOR GROUT!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I almost didn't buy this tool based upon some of the reviews. I decided to try it anyway and it did an excellent job!
In addition to the Grout Grabber, I used an oscillating tool with a diamond crusted blade to get at the grout close to vertical obstructions (baseboard, toilet, shower pan, etc.).
Holding a shop vac (fitted with a HEPA filter bag) virtually eliminated any dust. The Grout Grabber and oscillating tool methods both outperformed my Dremel.
This is definitely a tool you need for your grout removal tool box!
