Customer Review: Gunvault keypad needs to be debounced

The Gunvault I purchased is exactly what I wanted with one exception. It is well constructed, has all of the needed features without extraneous bells and whistles. But it's keypad is not properly de-bounced.
The safe has four finger pads to push for an entry code, with up to six characters in the code. Using all possible combinations gives up to 11,390,625 possible combinations. Unfortunately combinations with multiple pads pushed at the same time cause problems.
I picked a true random entry code and changed the safe to it. The code I picked had all four pads down as one of the characters, and three pads down as another of the characters. About 80% of the time, no matter how carefully I enter the code, the four pads down character registers as multiple characters entered. About 40% of the time the three pads down character registers as multiple characters. This messes up the code entry.
Even worse when you turn off the sound feedback for pad presses (my preferred mode of operation) you can not tell if multiple characters have been entered. Thus you get off track and quickly enter the unauthorized access two minute lockout mode. A bad thing to happen if you really need your gun.
The work around I came up with is to limit code characters to at most two pads down. This limits the code combinations to 1,000,000 combinations, which is adequate.
The true solution is for the software to properly de-bounce the key press (i.e. once a pad is pressed keep track of each pad that is pressed; enter as a code character the maximum number of pad presses; do not start the next character until all pads have been released). This would be a firmware fix at the factory.
