I bought this product to replace a 2X magnifying glass my mother was using to help her read and that had too little magnifying power. The supposedly 5X magnifying glass made things no larger than the 2X magnifying glass; nor does the package anywhere state that the product has 5X power. I don't believe it does. The manufacturer claims 5x magnification, but as others have pointed out this is clearly not the case. The real magnification is somewhere closer to the 1.5x to 2x range.
Aside from the misleading magnification claim, the magnifying glass is of decent quality and worth the price.

I bought it for my fish tank to check on the smaller critters that show up. It's well made and does the job. Price seems reasonable for how it's made. I would have liked a cloth pouch instead of a plastic sleeve. Eventually the sleeve will tear.Customer Review: Misleading description - this is not a 5x magnifier.

Very disappointed. I don't believe that this item is a 5X. I have an old scratched magnifying glass that I know was not a 5X and it works just as well as this one. Buy cheap-buy twice!
