Tools and Hardware Reviews of HONEYWELL TL8230A1003 Thermostat Electric Heat Digital 7 day programmableCustomer Review: Great thermostat Summary: 5 Stars
This thermostat is everything it is advertised to be. I had purchased a LUX EV-4 and was very unhappy with the clicking noise it made when turning on and off. The Honeywell is very quiet. As there is no battery backup, other reviews expressed concern about losing programming after a power loss. We lost power the day after I installed the thermostat; I was out of town; came home to find all settings intact. This unit has 7 day programming; all others offered only 5 &2.
Pros:
quiet switching
easy programming
7 day programming
keeps programming after power loss
easy to install
Cons:
a little tough to get back into the electric box
description didn't state maximum wattage; good to 3600, I have 3500 on this line
Customer Review: Excellent Thermostat Summary: 5 Stars
These will work great I think. I don't work for Honeywell, nor am I paid for this review.
I think the ability to adjust the presets will offer sufficient control over the periods to accomplish the goal of automatically controlling the temp of my home.
In my previous home I had central heat and had a 24 year old automatic Honeywell control. There were 4 periods and weekday, Sat and Sun control. I could set any period, on those days to any temp I wanted. There were no "Preset Temps" on that thermostat.
Although this new baseboard thermostat doesn't have that level of flexibility, I think the ability to customize your preset will be sufficient. The early start feature is wonderful, funny it isn't default.
Customer Review: easily installed, accurate thermostat Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased 2 of these for dipole electric baseboard heating elements in our finished basement to replace 2 nonprogrammable units that were not functioning properly. I am not an electrician, but am reasonably handy, and found the installation to be quite simple once the line and load wires were properly identified (one of the existing thermostats had the line and load wires reversed, which may have accounted in part for its malfunction). Programming the thermostats was easy, if a bit time intensive as their was no macro that could be used to carry the times and temperatures desired to other days, even if they were the same. I would purchase these thermostats again, and Plumbing Planet provided prompt, efficient service in delivering them.
Customer Review: Great to find this thermostat Summary: 5 Stars
I was in a pickle. I bought a home with a weird electrical heating system and very old thermostats. Plus the wiring is 220 and I could find zero programmable thermostats at hardware stores.
I bought two and had them installed. Programming is a breeze if you can read and follow simple instructions. I have four periods I can adjust and that suits my needs. I can change the preprogrammed settings very easily. I just started needing to learn this and I am not usually good at this but to me the programing was simple.
I like it and if I ever need to use one in the two remaining rooms with old manual thermostats I would buy these again.
Customer Review: Honeywell TL8230A Summary: 4 Stars
The unit is very attractive and was purchased to replace my "on/off" baseboard thermostat. The hookup was extra simple with two wires for the 220 feed and two wires for the heater load. Programing was also very easy, every day can be time programmed with two "comfort on" cycles and two "economy" cycles, plus there is a vacation low temp cycle. While every day can have it's own unique on and off times, there are only two temps available on a daily basis, either comfort or economy. I would like to see the weekends with their own seperate temps available, but other than that, the units work perfectly and do everything that is promised.
