I bought these legs to put on a table top I had to serve as a desk in my office. They have somewhat of a 50's retro style since the leg tapers slightly at the bottom and has those thin supporting bars buttressing from them. A little bit of a Jetson-like look which I like. The legs were fairly easy to screw into the table top though I do suggest pre-drilling the holes with a drill bit size slightly smaller than the screw itself. Otherwise, depending on the wood, it's almost impossible to screw them in, even using the drill with a screwdriver bit. (Just make sure you don't drill through the table top itself- only as deep as your screw needs to go.) I also needed to buy shorter screws to replace the ones that came with it since my table top is only about 3/4" in depth. It was a small expense.
As for the quality of the legs, they are very sturdy, and have enough holes along the inside of each leg to make them adjustable to a large range of heights. There are also adjustable feet on them so you can unscrew them to different heights if you have uneven floors. The paint seems chip-resistant enough, but I won't know until some time has past. I did notice though that the paint has almost a thicker, plastic-y feel to it than, say, regular spray paint, so I would imagine the paint on the legs is much more durable and chip resistant.
Each leg come in two parts so they can be adjusted - one part of the leg fits inside the other, something resembling a piston (or a tampon, an analogy for the ladies ;). I did have a problem with one of the legs fitting together though. The slimmer part of the leg would not go into the other, wider part of the leg. I wound up giving the end of the slimmer part a few light whacks with the hammer to reform it slightly. (I covered the leg with a double-folded towel beforehand so I wouldn't chip the paint or leave a mark.) This did the trick and I was able to get the slimmer part to go into the wider part.
I would have given it five stars if it hadn't been for this slight, but solvable problem. The legs came well-packed, each leg enclosed in a sleeve of plastic under a length of plastic pillows. (Not biodegradable, however, which I'd be glad to pay more for.) Well-designed, I do love the look of them on my desk. (And they don't look like all the other tubular Ikea legs out there.;) As a support for my desk, they are rock-solid; no wobble at all.
