Customer Review: USELESS...DOESN'T WORK!

I bought this from the website after seeing on television, because I really wanted this item. Styrofoam inserts into fabric sleeves...the commercial/video shows attaching it by sliding it on from the end of the open door (it does not actually attach to the door), then shows people opening and closing the door. If you look closely all of those pictures are of doors on smooth wood surfaces, and the door is FLUSH all the way to the bottom of the floor. In reality, doors have a lip (about 1 inch) from the bottom of the door to your floor or carpet. After you put this draft guard in place and HOLD IT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR to get the door closed, as soon as you open the door again it falls out of place, just enough to jam the doorway so you cannot close the door again without readjusting inside and outside of the draft guard, from the bottom of your door. NOT USABLE AT ALL!!! Also, I received the "free" ($[...] value) over the door hanger, and it does not fit over any of the doors in my home (I was charged $[...] and they only want to refund the [...] for the actual product--I pay for the "handling" and for the return shipping; to end up with nothing would still cost about $[...].Customer Review: I'm sure this saved me much more money than I spent!

This was the best weather-proofing purchase I made last fall. I live in an apartment building with a door just inside the main building door which had a significant draft. I put these in and instantly noticed that the room stayed much warmer.
I bought these in the fall of '09 and they made it through the winter just fine. You do have to give them a little kick to push them back under the door before your shut it, because they will slide out, but I'm sure the could be fixed with some double-sided tape or something. I really don't mind it, though, it's part of my "door closing routine" now.
I actually plan to leave these in during the summer. I'm sure they'll keep just as much hot air out/cool air in as they did the opposite in winter.
About the notes about making them yourself...yes, you could, but for less than 20 bucks, is it really worth the trip to get the materials, time and effort? No way, they're plenty sturdy right out of the box, and it takes 2 min to put them in.
I also really like the free over-the-door hook that came with.

This product must be designed for extremely thick doors rather than a typical residential door. As other reviewers have commented, it's way too loose. However, I read those reviews before I purchased, so I was ready to make it work because I still think it's the best product of its kind on the market.
I bought 3 of these and put them on doors without thresholds. To make them fit the doors snugly, I simply stuffed plastic grocery bags inside the fabric alongside the foam tube. It took quite a while, but was well worth the end result. I stuffed one bag at a time using the blunt end of a pencil, working the folded bag all the way to the end, the shaking the pencil out and starting with the next bag until it was stuffed tight from end to end. I made sure the keep the bags on the same side of the foam so that it still looked somewhat uniform (albeit lumpy). I only had to do this on one side of each of the draft stoppers.
I'm very satisfied with the product now that they fit the doors snugly. I only gave it 3 stars since it had to be modified.

The materials are kind of cheap. The channels the foam tubes slide into are kind of flimsy. But what do you want? They are going to drag along the ground. The channels are also baggy. Not so much that I am going to take the initiative to buy bigger foam like other reviewers, but that is a good idea.
They were also correct in that this WON'T work on any kind of a door with a threshold. It just won't.
I bought the set of two but I thought I needed three - I'm glad I didn't order all I thought I needed so I'd have a chance to test them out. Only the doors I needed them for is internal and has no threshold, so I can only use one. The other draft guard that came with it, I am about to donate to my local charity thrift shop - someone will put it to good use.
The over the door hook that it comes with is pretty good quality, and while THAT was the bit I was expecting to give away to charity, it is actually really handy.
All in all, this is pretty good value. Even if I can only use one of the draft guards.

This is the most worthless piece of junk I ever paid good money for. One could be made cheaper than this junk. My mother in law made some for us prior to purchasing this item. But we wanted something that fit snugly and thought this product would work. It does not. We have a raised front door floor and this does not work on it. We did use the 2nd one on our back door but it gets hung up in the door when trying to close. The product is also very cheaply made and not worth the price paid for it. Very shoddy made. The only good thing about this order was the over the door rack, but it is not worth the price paid for the whole package.
We ended up using the one that was homemade stuffed into the door when shutting it and no air comes in at all, unlike this piece of cr*p.
Do not purchase this product!
