Unlike the other reviewers I have had good success with these. Perhaps the difference is that I have experience hanging drywall and these are just a nice little tool to help speed something along that I already have the feel for. I can see how it does take some practice to get the feel for using these things, so if you have never done drywall and are only going to use them for your first and only job, they may not be worth it. However, if you already have experience for the process of hanging drywall I think you will find these helpful in some applications. I say in some applications because the guys who do drywall day in and day out would probably be slowed down by these things, because they seem to be able to feel the boxes in the wall and cut at the right location based solely on the bulge in the panel. For the rest of us who do drywall, but have never been comfortable feeling for the boxes, locating them in the sheet to cut is always a time problem.
Keep in mind that if you are working alone, a 4x8 or 4x12 sheet of drywall can be unwieldy to work with and maneuver into place. This is probably why the other reviewers have had trouble with bent pins. You need to be able to have a method for supporting the drywall so that you can align it properly and then push it straight into the wall so the pins puncture the Sheetrock in the correct place. For bottom pieces I use shims that support the board 1/2 inch off the floor so I don't have to carry the weight of the board while also aligning it. For upper sheets, depending on the location of the boxes, you can rest the panel on the installed lower sheet and then pivot in. If the lower sheet is not in yet, you can screw temporary supporting blocks to the studs to hold the sheet while you align it. The key is that something needs to be supporting the weight of the panel so all you do is align it and press it in. That can either be helpers or some sort of shim or jig. Once you have a method to use to support the panel then with just a little learning curve these can make the job of marking and cutting the box holes a little easier and less time consuming.
