We bought this since our garage door lights needed a switch and also wanted a way to turn it on/off without opening the garage door every time. I wasn't sure about it while I was searching it online. I was wrong.
The installation was about 5-10 min. However, the antenna was too short and it only gets you about 10 feet or so to turn the light on with the remote. Well that didn't work with us. At least we wanted to turn the lights from inside of the house. So I extended the antenna with 22 AWG wire to about 20 feet. I wired them above the garage door and toward the peak of the garage. Wow! Now we get about 40 feet. I can even turn it on from the street. ;o)
Some of you may be wondering if this would work with your HomeLink system in your car. Yes, it does (or at least on my G35 works anyway). It needs two butons if you want to turn it on and off (one to turn it on and other to turn it off). It learned the code without any problems. So I can turn the light on/off from the car while driving up to the garage. Sweet!
