Customer Review: Not so great...easily fooled by phantoms

Addition: 2/23/2010 - These lights just bite. So do the version in black. I found that these damn lights went on in the full sun of the morning when I was away for weeks on end. I can hardly wait for my electric bill.
I bought these lights to provide a degree of illumination when I enter my driveway, plus provide a modicum of security when I am away for extended periods of time. The installation was pretty straight forward with the exception of needing to buy some silicon for waterproofing. Everything is provided to install the light with the exception of the silicon. The bulbs are quite delicate and need to be handled carefully.
The light works. However, the sensor is easily fooled. A light drift of snow caused it to go on & off for hours. A heavy rain did the same thing. One day it just decided the early morning sunlight dappling on my Cherry tree (50' feet away) deserved a full on & off sequence. In short, it doesn't seem to know what's worthy, and what's not. I've played around with the sensitivity of the sensor, but this time around I decided to turn off the thing as it became a real bother in -20 F degree. Also, I'm pretty sure my neighbors didn't like seeing this goofy light go on & off at all points of the evening.
Since it's perched high on a shed, and since it took me a good chunk out of my life - I'll let it sit and will turn it on come Spring 2010. In short - a bummer.

Mostly assembled.Heath Zenith's SL-5512 bundles a motion sensor and a two-light halogen floodlight in a single package, but with a lot of extra features you don't see in similar setups.
Unlike most motion-activated security lights, this one features "pulse count" technology that reduces the number of times that lamps are triggered due to wind and rain. In addition, the "Dual Brite" feature allows you to use it for low-level accent lighting in addition to the full-light effect you get with motion-activation (an included timer allows you to set low-light mode for three hours, six hours, or dusk to dawn-an automatic photocell deactivates the unit in daylight). The unit also includes a selectable timer that lets you set the amount of time the lights stay on after motion stops. Alternatively, it includes a manual override that lets you turn the light on and off at will via an existing indoor switch.
The sensor has a range of up to 70 feet and detects motion in a wide 240-degree range with a maximum 21,000-square-foot detection zone. The detection range is adjustable, too, so you can make sure the floodlights don't go on every time a car drives by.
