Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell Fresh Breeze Tower Fan with Remote Control

Customer Review: Powerful fan!
Summary: 5 Stars

First and foremost, this fan does a great job at it's primary function: moving cool air. It is a lot more powerful than the last fan I had but is also surprisingly quiet. There's are a lot of features on the fan that I cannot imagine anyone actually using or having a need for (breeze mode??) The ionizer and air filter are nice touches though. This fan is also a lot taller than I imagined it would be which is a good thing because I have it sitting on the floor and like that I can feel the air on top of my bed which is pretty high off of the ground. My biggest gripe is with the remote. Honeywell needs to fire all of their industrial design engineers because the remote not only does not function properly, the ergonomics of are equally as detestable. Since the remote uses an infrared signal, you have to aim it directly at the fan. But even so, the fan does not always recognize the command, even though the light on the fan indicates otherwise. The only visual indication of the fan speed is by the icons on the LCD screen atop the fan. However, you cannot see these if not directly on top of the fan, so it's usually a guessing game what speed the fan is since all the button on the remote does is cycle through the High-medium-low-off settings. Remote issues aside, I would easily recommend this fan to anyone, because, as I originally mentioned, it does it's main function amazingly well!

Customer Review: We went back and bought a second one.
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this at Home Depot for 49 bucks.
Both the wife and I loved it so much we went back and got another one so we dont have to keep carrying it back and forth from the living room to the bedroom at night when we go to bed.
I never thought I would use the remote, but I had to have a surgery on my foot and am on crutches for the next 5 or 6 weeks at the least, and has is it ever a life saver.!!!!
I can get all my pillows into place, jack up my leg and still adjust the fan from my jacked up command center.!!!
At night or when the noise level is low the breeze feature is a bit annoying, but otherwise nice.
I have not had oppertunity to use the timer or the temp setting as it has still be hot enough that you either need the fan or you dont. So I look forward to those features in the next month or so.
This fan is very quiet and its lowest setting is very nice and look forward to its use this winter for moving heat from the dining room (where we have the gas heater) into other areas of the house.
I dont think you will regret buying this fan, but its out there to be had for a lot less than they are asking here.
We loveboth of ours.

Customer Review: Quiet and Effective
Summary: 4 Stars

At higher speeds it is the quietest fan I have owned. I have used all of the options successfully. Reading the manual is a must. Some features are combined, and the process of accessing them and in the combination wanted requires knowing which button controls to use and where in the toggling sequence, the combinations are. It is easy and unobtrusive to carry from room to room, and in my case upstairs and downstairs. When I get chilled from having the fan blowing on me directly, I have the choice of oscillating the fan or using the breeze function. I found the breeze function on high to be annoying because the sound of the fan motor rising and falling was like a motor unceasingly revving . On the low speeds, it was less obvious. Still, I have been very pleased with this purchase. However, only a four because it is made of plastic, which makes it seem cheap, the breeze function which could have a more erratic pattern to diminish the revving experience and maybe having one more control buttons to separate out some features to make toggling through the options a little less demanding.

Customer Review: Great....for the first 9 months
Summary: 4 Stars

This has been a great fan which I use at night mainly for a little white noise. The fan puts out a good deal of air, though it should be noted that the air begins to come out at approximately 1 foot high, not from the ground floor. The fan oscillation covers a large area, the remote is a life saver for nighttime use and the "air purifier" function is nice.

I would say my favorite feature is that it has a removable air filter that you can clean. I have dogs and this is a necessity. I tend to take it off and clean it every two weeks.

The downside: after 9 months of nightly use the fan blades have stopped spinning. I turn it on, and only hear a loud hum as if the motor is trying but the blades just won't spin. When I take off the back and manually move the blades they are tight and hard to move. I have used air cans and done my regular cleaning but cannot figure out what is going on. It is still under manufacturer warranty so I will get it repaired.

I still recommend this fan to anyone who doesn't have space for a large floor fan.

Customer Review: Excellent Fan
Summary: 5 Stars

I am not entirely sure if this is what I have but it looks identical. (My Model #: HY-047B) From my experience of using several tower fans, this Honeywell product is excellent. It pushes a lot of air quietly and oscillates in a wider angle compared to the tower fan from Lasko. Its look is decent but if you prefer a fancier fan, I would recommend Lasko 42" Wind Curve though it doesn't circulate as much air. (I have recently bought this Lasko fan and returned it because it is not powerful enough; its third level of wind speed is only equivalent to the first level of this Honeywell fan.) In addition, I like that this fan comes with a filter that can be easily washed and reinstalled. I would consider this a four-season fan because its three levels of wind speed fits my needs all year round unlike the Lasko 42" Wind curve, which I would consider it as a winter fan, and Nexus Tropical Breeze, which I would call it a summer fan because it pushes unbelievable amount of air to great distances. I plan to buy another Honeywell 3-Speed Digital Tower Fan soon.
