Customer Review: It's not holding up

I bought this unit at the beginning of the winter season after retiring my older, smaller Honeywell units. I wish I hadn't gotten rid of those smaller guys though because this one has some design flaws and isn't holding up.
My two major complaints are that when the tank is upside down filling, there's not handle to then lift it out of the sink or tub. First you have to cap it and then flip it and drip water all the way back to the unit. My older one had a handle on both ends. Secondly, there's now indicator to tell you when the tanks are empty.
Lastly, one of my tanks already has a number of cracks in it and I'm afraid it will start leaking. I expected this unit to last at least a few winters, not 1/2 of one.

This humidifier is great. The digital humidistat makes the room(s) the perfect humidity level for you. The humidifier purifies the air in the room, as well. The filters that are used by this model last longer than the filters used in other branded humidifiers I have used. It is easy to use and works exceptionally well.
The only reason I do not rate this humidifier with 5 stars is because the water tanks are a little inconvenient when filling. The handles are not recessed into the tank, which makes it hard to set down when filling the tank. Also, I would not categorize this as a whole home humidifier. I live in a house that is roughly 1300 sq. ft. and this humidifier is effective for about half of my house.

This humidifier performs as advertised; it's very quiet and is adequate for several rooms to a moderately sized house. The dual water tanks are easy to carry and fill, and the design looks better (at least to me) than a big, square box with fake wood grain. The base and tanks are very easy to clean compared to other units.
There are a couple of flaws. The water tanks look good, but would be easier to fill if they could stand for filling. The curved shape of the top means that they need to be propped up in some way. The screw tops that seal the tanks need to be tightened securely. Someone with weak hands may need help or a tool or risk leakage.
All in all, this is a good humidifier.
Customer Review: Decent humidifier with a few gotcha's

I've been using all different kinds of humidifiers, and personally this one works the best for me.
PROS:
1. Superb humidifying capability. If your main concern is increasing the humidity level of your room as high as possible, then this is the one.
2. No white dusks unlike ultra-sonic type humidifier.
CONS:
1. The filter gets rotten very quickly. If you don't clean it often, it will start spreading bad odor around your room.
2. Maintenance cost. Like I said, the filter gets rotten very quickly, so I recommen replacing it at least once a month.
3. Air Washing Technology. Wash What??? Don't expect much from "air cleaning" feature of this product.

I purchased three of these from Amazon when I could not find anything comparable in the market place. Since Jan. 08 they have been putting out max. in this 3200 sq. ft. house.
I flip the filters when they become crusty and then rinse in a 5 gal. bucket.
Have only had to replace one filter so far. Do not fold or roughly handle filters. they are fragile to some extent.
The units could have been deigned for easier handing when filling. I am doing so almost twice daily on all units.
The digital humidity settings are accurate and the fan speed can be set for the existing conditions in the area.
For a mobile, seasonable unit This unit works period.
