Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HCM650 4-Gallon QuietCare Cool Moisture HumidifierCustomer Review: Not quiet, but otherwise quite good Summary: 4 Stars
Although the "QuietCare" name is a joke, the HCM650 is a good humidifier, and we have found that it's benefits outweigh the noise, especially if you turn it down to low or medium at night. The tank is large enough to keep it running for about 24 hours, and we highly recommend using filtered (or distilled) water instead of plain tap water to keep the filter from getting clogged with mineral deposits. Even so, you should expect to replace the filter every 3-6 weeks, so be sure to buy some HAC-504 replacement filters so you won't run out.
Customer Review: Honeywell Humidifier Summary: 4 Stars
I did a lot of research before buying this and I feel that it is a good buy. I love the variable speeds and adjustable levels for humidity. It is also very quiet running. The only thing that I would complain about is that it blows out the front instead of top. You have to place it where no one is in direct line of air flow. The air is very cold and you can feel it a good 10 feet away. I just have to watch where I place it. The tank holds plenty of water and usually lasts 2 days. I am very happy with it and would recommend it.
Customer Review: works as advertized, but warranty service is very poor Summary: 3 Stars
The unit is quiet and humidifies a large room well. Water tank changes are needed about every 12 hours. My only serious complaint is that the Kaz company which manufactures and services the unit under warranty is very non-repsonisve. My unit developed a crack in the water tank which I discovered when I awoke to a carpet soaked with 4 gallons of water. I called the 800 number. After a long and confusing menu tree I found out they will not replace the tank for 6 WEEKS!! So if you need the humidified air you better buy a back up unit.
Customer Review: Look Elsewhere Summary: 3 Stars
I agree with other reviewers that the humidifier is not as quiet as they claim. It seems to humidify the room OK and the electronic controls are a nice touch and work as advertised.
As with a previous reviewer, the filter is a big concern. In about a month mold started to grow on it even though I used the humidifier every day in my infant son's room. You have to replace it.
I'm ordering a new filter today and will probably sell the humidifer at our garage sell and look for a better one for next season.
Customer Review: not Quiet t all Summary: 1 Stars
In reality, this humidifier is quite noisy. Even on the lowest speed I have to put it in the farest corner of the house so we can sleep.
I don't understand why is it so difficult to balance a fan...
This Humidifier is made in China by Kaz and Honeywell puts it's reputation in jeopardy by outsourcing to Kaz.
In addition, occasionally humidifier fails to start (probably fan gets stuck and I have to turn it by hand).
$8-$12 Filter gets mold in 2-3 months and needs to be replaced.
