Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HHT-011 Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter

Customer Review: Sounds like a jet engine
Summary: 1 Stars

Excited finally to be on the brink of cleaner air, I plugged this in and in the space of seconds it was clear that it's trash. It is so outrageously loud -- a high-pitched whine, not a low-pitched 'white noise' that I may have found soothing -- that I can assure everyone they won't be able to tolerate it. The room I had it in is significantly bigger than the supposedly appropriate floor dimensions -- if it were in use in those dimensions, the noise would be even less tolerable, but I put it in the next room and it was totally unacceptable to have it running, even from there. I'm talking about the noise on the lowest of the three settings; the higher settings are just unbelievable. They're not even really trying to make a decent product, there's no excuse for anything marketed for use in the home to make such a loud whining noise nonstop.

By the way, everyone should know that the manufacturer is a company called "Kaz" that licenses the name Honeywell. It says that in small print on the box. A clever gambit for some crap company to make online sales, I take it. Outrageous. Naturally I returned it to Amazon for a refund, but I in no way forgive them for having sold me such a piece of trash in the first place -- this is a lot of effort to get back to square one with nothing.

Customer Review: After only 6 hours, already making a difference

I have numerous airborne allergies. Perfume is one of the worst offenders for causing an allergic reaction for me. I work in an office setting and it is difficult to avoid perfume, flowers, paper dust, etc. I was getting tired of missing work due to a severe allergic reaction so After reading the reviews, I ordered this last week hoping that it might help clean the air space around my desk.

I received this air purifier last night, and brought it into work this morning. Following the directions, I set it up and plugged it in. I have a 6 x 6 cubicle without a door so I wasn't sure how well this would work. It is sitting on my desk about 16 inches from me and after only 6 hours it has made a big difference. Of course, I will only run it during the day when I'm here as I am using it to purify the air in my immediate vicinity. I like that I can adjust the fan speed -- low, medium, and high -- as when I need to talk on the phone I lower it to the low setting. When not on the phone, I can run it on the medium setting. I am also using the ionizer.

The only problem I have with mine is that the night-light switch doesn't work so as long as I have the purifier on the night-light is on. Not a big deal for me as I'm not trying to sleep at my desk!

Customer Review: So far so good

My son is allergic to cats, and we didn't realize HOW allergic until we adopted two! The poor kid was miserable. We closed off his room and kept the cats out, changed his daily antihistamine to one that worked better, and tried to vacuum more often.

Still, he coughed quite a bit every day after arriving home from school and often into the night. Then came the cough syrup. A friend suggested we get a hepa air purifier for his room, and I decided on this one based on price and the fact that the hepa filter is washable and permanent. It also had decent ratings.

Although it is a bit noisy, it doesn't bother our son and is a soothing white noise for him. The air smells fresh and clean in his room, and he has stopped coughing! YES!

I will admit, though, that we also bought a new Dyson vacuum with a hepa filter and we have been vacuuming several times a week, but I will also admit we're not dusting...so there *is* dander around. Yet between using this air purifier in his room and keeping the carpets cleaner, he coughs VERY rarely and is much more comfortable. Yay! We can keep the cats! (He loves them, and so do we.)

I gave it four stars since we haven't had it very long and it's a tiny bit noisy.

Customer Review: Small and Sufficient
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm giving this air filter a rating of 4 and not of 5 simply because I don't know what kind of miraculous feats are obtainable with such a machine having never owned one before.

My husband and I purchased 2 of these after discovering that he and our oldest daughter were allergic to our 4 (indoor) cats. We keep one in our room and one in the girls room. Thus far, I have noticed that the whole house (less than 1000 sq. ft.) smells nicer, and my husband and daughter do seem to be sleeping better. Our daughter has asthma and has not needed her inhaler since we have had these filters. Could be the filter, could also be the change in medication... Could be both!

I crank up all the settings during the day and then turn it way down at night. It is a little noisy in my small house with both filters turned up during the day, but at night on the lowest settings we all sleep fine and what little bit of noise there is seems comforting.

The filters are easy to clean. The machine was easy to snap together and the instructions for use were clear. All in all, I'd say it was completely worth the money put into it and perhaps I will invest in one to sit in my office as well, due to the proximity to the litter box...

This little piece of heaven is truly a life-changer. I've had it for 5 days now, and I am replacing my Ionic Breeze from Sharper Image with this model. The difference is so amazing that I wish I had switched a LONG time ago. My bedroom is 150 square feet, quite a bit larger than Amazon states this unit is meant for. Well, believe me, it's working. And if it's working in my 15x10 bedroom this well then I'm sure it'll work in any smaller rooms.

I enjoy the white noise when I sleep. I sleep with the "Sounds of the Ocean" as-is, and this little machine is drowned out by my system. But, it is LOUD. Even on the lowest of the 3 settings you can hear it clearly in a bedroom when you're going to sleep. If you want something quiet then this is not the machine for you. But hey, remember, if you want something to work this well and be small then you're going to have noise. Period. I've tried a lot of theses little suckers, and this is the best. It absolutely blows the competition out of the water by so much that I'm finding it hard to believe it isn't secretly drugging me with Happy Pills. I'm extremely allergic to pet dander, dust, even cologne, and I have never slept better than the past few nights. I can't give this a higher thumbs up!
