Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HHT-011 Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA FilterCustomer Review: Something Isn't Right Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this air purifier for the name and size and the permanent filter aspect. It's a great size for my baby's room. The grill over the filter doesn't fit well and it isn't very quiet and kind of buzzy. I actually stopped using it in the baby's room after a few weeks due to an electrical smell that was coming from the unit. It's not the ionizer because I didn't use that feature. It's something coming from the motor. When I start the motor on low, it barely turns. I have to run it on high for a few minutes to "warm it up" so that it will spin at a decent rate on low. I feel that the smell is the motor windings heating up due to it straining from bad alignment or bearing or something. I definitely wouldn't recommend this unit due to these problems. From the other reviews, it sounds like this is not always a problem. It must just be a quality control problem.
I also bought the Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort. It truly is quite on low but it's a lot bigger. I managed to fit that in the tiny room. It works great. I can hardly hear it in the baby monitor. I do recommend this one if you can spare the room. Larger fans are naturally more quit anyway.
Customer Review: Very effective for reasonably sized rooms, but a bit noisy... Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered this unit because I rescued a cat - but I am very allergic to them. I know, I seem pretty stupid, but I love them. Anyway, this unit works great, it's like I don't even own a cat when it's on. On low it works decently well, and the noise level is pretty decent. On the upper two settings, the noise is pretty loud, and you'll probably have to turn up the TV, depending on the size of the room. I use it in both my living room and my bed room - it works great in both. I keep it on 24 hours a day, and I have become used to the white noise while the unit is on low. It helps me sleep now.
Summary: This unit is good for people who don't want to spend a lot of money, want clean air, (especially for people with allergies!) and don't mind some noise. For the price, it does its job well. The noise levels are up to you though. Perfectly fine for me. Also, you may want to seal up the outside's er...."lines" with some tape. Some air DOES go through there, so you should seal them up. There is a line going around the unit on the upper half. You'll know what I'm talking about. I just put some tape and it's all good to go. Had it for 1 month so far, works wonders.
Customer Review: Quiet and powerful air purifier with no filters to replace Summary: 5 Stars
I have other ionic air cleaners, as well as one that requires a filter. This air purifier is quiet and due to its compact size, can be placed off the floor on a bookcase, dresser top or top shelf which makes it optimal for space-saving and placement. I don't particularly like the noise from air filters and they have a tendency to keep me up.
After spending many dollars on replacement filters and new air cleaners when the filter is no longer made or easily available, this is a welcome addition with a permanent cleanable filter. I bought two of these, one for my bedroom and one for the living room. Set on low all of the time, it is great as it just sounds like a little white noise and is not noticable most of the time. The optional ionic on and off switch, night light, as well as the automated light indicating that the filter should be cleaned is a BONUS besides the low price. So far, I am enjoying cleaner air in an old dusty house with 3 cats and 2 dogs...
I have bought the Sharper Image ionic breeze for the bathroom and find it hard to clean and hope that when I have to clean this filter. Good value for the money.
Customer Review: Pound for Pound Summary: 4 Stars
Pound for Pound this is an amazing air purifier. I live in a dorm and I have always had bad allergys. I have to get up for work at about 6 am. Usually when I would wake up I would be sneezing, have itchy noes, and girls that slept with me said that my allergies really were bad in the middle of the night.
Ever since I got this thing I have been getting much better sleep, and my allergies have not once woke me up in the middle of the night, and best of all my allergies don't rip me apart at night anymore (or so im told).
One of the main reasons i got this thing was for dust, as my room gets dusty really fast. This hasn't really helped much with dust and the air circulation seems to have decreased a bit over the 3 weeks ive had it, but im not sure of this because its still having the same overall effect that it did the first week. I hope it works months down the line, but right now its impossible to tell.
Pound for Pound a great deal, especially compaired to some of those other air purifiers. 500 bucks... ouch 10% of the cost with half of the effectiveness... i should have gotten two
Customer Review: Pleased enough to recommend Summary: 4 Stars
I live in a studio apartment in midtown Manhattan where two tons of soot fall per square foot each year. Even with filtered screens on windows, air is disgusting with the products of internal combustion. The job is way too big for any air filter.
This little Honeywell not a real Hepa, so the dangerous submicron diesel particles surely get through. But it has noticeably reduced the dust flying around my loft bed and made the area feel fresher. Maybe it's just the air circulation--I don't know. The ionizer seems to help pull the dust out of the air and onto surfaces where it can be easily cleaned--I have noticed the accumulation of dust nearby. It sits on top of a bookshelf, out of the line of sight, and on low setting the sound is noticeable but not annoying.
I used to have an expensive real Hepa filter that took up half the room. While it may have filtered out cancerous particles and moved a lot of air, it didn't help with the house dust and was obnoxious to be around, so I rarely turned it on. For the size and price of this little unit, I'm happy with what it's doing.
