Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HT800 Super Turbo High Performance Fan, Black

Customer Review: Powerful, noisy, short life
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this fan for use at night while I was sleeping. It worked great for awhile, and the loud noise drown out the birds that liked to wake up and play at 4:30 in the morning right outside my window.

About nine months later, though, it's on its last leg. For 15-20 mintues after I first turn it on, the blades rotate very slowly. With patience it will get up to about half of the speed it had when brand new, which is still tolerable. It requires the highest setting to actually move any air, though.

So it works great for a year or so if you're lucky. If that's worth $10-15 and you don't mind the sound, this is the fan for you. If you expect more than a few months out of a product, look for better quality.

Customer Review: You just can't beat Honeywell
Summary: 5 Stars

Over the years, I've bought dozens of fans of various makes and models. I bought my fist Honeywell of this style (the very small office version) three or four years ago. I use it at work, everyday, year round. It still looks and runs like it did on the first day. I now own four of these small guys, as well as an 11" version and an 18" version. They are work horses and do their job better than any other fan that I've ever owned. I also have a Honeywell stand fan that I've owned for about 5 years now and, just like these babies, it's the bomb (it runs all night, every night). Don't tell Amazon or Honeywell, but I would have paid 3 or 4 times as much as I did for these fans - and they'd be worth every dime!

Customer Review: Lasts About A Year - But It's a Good Year
Summary: 4 Stars

I go through these Honeywell fans like mad. Although they've got a 5-year warranty, they routinely fail in about a year of regular (daily) use. That is, they'll either stop turning very well, or develop horrible rattles and squeaks. As it would cost more to send it in for replacement than to buy a new one, the warranty is fairly pointless. That being said, these are great little fans for the money while they last. They REALLY move air, and have a good "white noise" sound (if you're looking for a quiet fan, keep looking - if you want something to help drown out background noise, this is it). I wish these were a bit sturdier - and could be opened for cleaning. But all in all, unbeatable for the money.

Customer Review: Powerful, but believe the reviews that say LOUD!
Summary: 4 Stars

I've read the reviews that this was a loud little fan. I wanted it to quietly circulate the heat from the fireplace around the family room and away from the underside of he mantle. So I figure; it's small, how loud can it be? Well I just received it and yes, it is very LOUD for such a small fan, even on it's lowest setting. But it does move quite a bit of air for such a small fan. If, like many people, you want to use it for 'white noise' during those hot summer nights with the windows open, this is the fan for you. If you want quiet, go fo the Lasko 3525 (I also have one of them) but it's only two speed, doesn't move nearly the same amount of air, and it's more expensive.

Customer Review: Powerful, but louder than normal
Summary: 5 Stars

Short Version: Good buy if you don't have sensitive ears.

This little giant moves as much air as a fan twice its size would on full power. The noise is like a hum to best describe it. I am guessing that the motor hum is mixing with the "woosh" noise of the blades spinning at a very high velocity and causing this "white noise". However, I had no problem reading a book with the fan on "High" only 8 feet away.
The answers to these four questions are why I give it 5 stars: Do I want to return it? No. Was I impressed with the power? Yes. Am I going to go deaf listening to it/Develop insomnia? Probably Not. Finally, was the price reasonable? Yes.
