Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HT804 Super Turbo High Performance Fan, WhiteCustomer Review: A great fan at half the price Summary: 5 Stars
I am annoyed. The fan gets 5 stars because it is a great little fan. So why am I annoyed?
Some background: a few years ago, I bought the same fan in black (the Honeywell HT800) from Amazon and paid as I recall $12-13 and the shipping was free. The fan is a close copy of something you might get from Vornado, with similar high quality construction and good air moving capability. I was so pleased with it, I thought I would buy a few more from Amazon. Apparently the HT800 is either in short supply or discontinued, because Amazon no longer directly sells it, although the Amazon marketplace sellers do. With shipping, it is now more than twice the price. That is unacceptable.
It turns out the HT804 is identical to the HT800 except for color (white versus) black, but the price is again the problem. Amazon's reseller are charging whatever the market will bear.
Please understand I am not knocking Amazon. I love Amazon. Amazon is my favorite internet company and the service I have received from Amazon is unmatched. But apparently Amazon cannot set the prices the reseller's charge. And that is too bad.
Elsewhere, the HT800 can be bought at the same inflated prices you will find on Amazon. The white HT804 is a different matter. I was able to locate a source on the internet selling the HT804 for $8.00 plus shipping. I bought three. With shipping, the total average price for each was $12.
Amazon can't like this review. No company would, because it is a direct criticism of a company policy. But if you are reading this review, then it reflects the fact that Amazon is honest with its customers by allowing such a criticism to be posted.
Customer Review: OK, but NOT QUITE what I was hoping for... Summary: 3 Stars
Pros:
I like the light color.
It's light weight makes it easy to move around.
Can tilt upwards up to 90 degrees.
Airflow is good for it's size.
Nice size base for stability.
Cons:
Much louder than I expected, even on low, with the fan near (which you need if you want to feel cooler). I am somewhat sensitive to noise and sound, YMMV.
Doesn't tilt down, so you have to prop up the back a little for that effect.
Airflow is still not as strong as I would like, I guess I'll have to get a larger fan.
Improvement Suggestions:
It would be helpful if the grill came apart for cleaning.
It would be nice if the cord was 1'-2' longer, and could neatly wrap around the base for storage.
Note:
Though I buy many things through Amazon, I needed a fan right away, and I was able to find it at Target, and for a little bit better price.
Bottom Line:
If you are looking for an inexpensive, small, lightweight fan, and don't need one that is "whisper quiet", then you will probably be happy with this one.
Customer Review: It's inexpensive, don't expect much Summary: 1 Stars
This fan sounded neat because some previous reviews talked about how powerful it is. Reality is this a small fan, with a very small motor. It does OK for it's size, but does not move what I would consider all that much air even on high. Is it noisy, yeah a little, not unexpected given it's price range.
The owners manual gives diagrams for air circulation for whole rooms, up and down stairs, etc. That idea is extraordinarily optimistic considering the lack of power for this fan.
This fan should really be considered a cubicle fan, better then the clip on fans costing one half as much, but certainly far short of the oscillating table fans you can get for just a few dollars more. Unless you like overrated mediocrity, there are better choices.
Which brings me back to the fan description itself, "Super Turbo High Performance" is either hilarious or a sick joke. You can decide.
Customer Review: Cannot be CLEANED!! Summary: 1 Stars
Any fan that you cannot open to clean is useless in my opinion. Unless you live in a place where there is no dust, this fan cannot be opened to be cleaned. It's impossible to clean without opening it. I've tried sticking handles with rags, dusters, etc. inside, because you cannot get the screws out to disassemble it. It has some type of bizarre screws that you cannot get out with any type of screwdriver or allen or star wrench. You cannot get in between all of the little slots to clean it with anything. It even says in the specs: "This item does not disassemble."
As far as performance, it works okay if you are just wanting a table top, close range fan. For instance, I have it sitting on my bathroom counter top so that I can have some cool air when I am getting dressed or drying my hair to cool down a bit. I don't image it would be good for anything more! It is extremely loud!
Customer Review: good high-powered fan Summary: 4 Stars
no problems w/delivery or product. ordered directly brand new($14.99) from amazon on a tues (& used $7.35 standard shipping). rec'd on a thurs before 1pm. the fan only rotates up & down, but gives excellent circulation at long distances and i rarely find myself using the medium of high speed setting. although it's not mountable, it doesn't take-up much space---a big plus for me! a bit hard to clean---it's best to use a vacuum cleaner with a small, narrow attachment. being small , you'd expect no noise, but i find it to be pretty reasonable. this was priced the same as the stores (when in season), which still isn't bad. overall i am very very happy w/product & amazon AND would DEFINITELY recommend to customers--4 stars!!! (would've have given 5 stars if it was mountable & if a remote control option was available---but hey, everything in life isn't perfect. LOL)
