I purchased this to replace the units from Menards home improvement store, I could never get the outside button to work for more than a few months, I guess they do not like Chicago winter temps!
I have not had this unit through the winter yet, but the outdoor button unit is of much better construction. It has an effective looking o-ring to seal out moisture. The sound and flashing strobe lights feature is very cool when I am vacuuming or the stereo is on.
I was just looking for a basic doorbell and bought this unit, but now realize that the $30 RCWL300A1006 does the same thing, but without the expandability.
I'll update this review spring 2011 to see if the button makes it thru the subzero stuff!

I purchased this doorbell to replace the non-working, built-in one in our older home. After installing the batteries (four C cells if I remember correctly) it worked right away with the included remote button. I purchased a button for another door, and it was fairly simple to pair it to a location light and assign it a different chime by following the directions. There are several nice-sounding chimes from which to choose, and the volume range is more than adequate to hear through the whole house. A nice surprise was finding out that it can also be mounted to a wall using the included bracket and screws. Even after mounting it, you can easily lift it off the bracket and take it with you so that you don't lose the portability aspect of it.Customer Review: actually works as promised!

We use a wireless doorbell in our store, for the clerks to push when they want assistance at the register. We went through two other brands, both models that said they would work at the range we needed, but both either stopped working after a very short period of time or worked sporadically at best, even with new batteries. This was no more expensive than the other so-called "long range" doorbells we purchased and it WORKS EVERY TIME. The chime choices are attractive and the setup is easy. We are looking forward to using the additional optional bells for other purposes around the store. Worth every penny and then some. Can only hope it will be available again, but if not hopefully other Honeywell door chimes will have the same quality.Customer Review: works great

We just remodeled and forgot all about wiring for a regular door bell. So I had to do some research on wireless door bells. This was the best I could find on paper. A lot of reviews confirmed it was good so I went with it. I only use the push button that came with it and the the door chime. It can get pretty loud if you just stand it up on a table. If you mount it on a wall it gets softer because the speaker is in the back, but it's still plenty loud. I can't comment on the rest of the features since I don't use them, but I'm sure I will in the future. I've been using it for about a month now. sounds good and no problems so far. I looked at several places and best price was at Amazon, especially with free shipping.Customer Review: Works great most of the time.

In fairness to Honeywell and this device I live in an old home with plaster walls and the door frame is aluminum, neither of which are optimal to get this bell up and working.
That said about 95% of the time the bell does what it says it will do some three floors up. Every so often the bell does not work which I chalk up to the conditions written above.
Having the option for different chimes and visual alerts give this unit an edge over and above many similar units. The alarm is loud allowing you to be in another part of the home to be able to hear the bell and the fact that it's wireless saves me the headache of bringing in an electrician and that extra expense.
Solid product.
