Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell RPWL3045A1003/A Wireless Premium Portable Converter/Extender/Push ButtonCustomer Review: Performs well Summary: 4 Stars
Having been so satisfied with the Honeywell wireless door chime, Honeywell RCWL330A1000/N P4-Premium Portable Wireless Door Chime and Push Button we then bought the Converter/Extender/Pushbutton.
This add-on device Honeywell RPWL3045A1003/A Wireless Premium Portable Converter/Extender/Push Button worked perfectly to tie in an existing driveway alarm to the Honeywell door chime. We hardwired this device to the 'normally open' contacts on our driveway alarm unit. Now when the driveway alarm gets a signal, it closes its output N/O contacts, which triggers the Honeywell extender device. The Honeywell extender then transmits the signal to the main Honeywell Door Chime unit. So now we have three distinct tones set up on the main Door Chime: one tone for the house pushbutton, one for the shop pushbutton, and one for the driveway alarm system.
Works perfectly every time. There are other uses for this device with the Honeywell Door Chime system.
Customer Review: OK, but beware of a few things: Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this in conjunction with a handful of window and door contacts to use with my Honeywell base doorbell unit.
1. Other poster is absolutely correct - the instructions are unbelievably BAD. In fact I think they probably do more harm than good.
2. One thing that was not clear before I bought was that you need to buy one of these extenders for EVERY set of door/window contacts you buy! That can add up in price if you want to cover all your doors, not to mention low level windows! Sheesh...doesn't mention this ANYwhere in description. I assumed it wirelessly (like the base unit) controlled any door or window contacts installed. But
I also think that if you were to use this as just a "push" that it doesn't look anything like a "normal" push so I can understand that people would knock instead, ironically. They should have designed it to look more like the white, dedicated pushes that comes with the base system instead, imo. Those are very obviously doorbell pushses...this looks more like a...retina scanner or something. :)
Customer Review: Poor design--Avoid this product Summary: 1 Stars
As previously mentioned, you need an extender for every door/window. That becomes expensive easily. It can be set to CHIME only when you exit the door. Personally, I already know that I am leaving, and don't need a chime to tell me. When you enter a door connected by contacts to this extender, it can only send off an annoying sound that they call an alert. You CAN NOT GET a subtle chime, just an annoying alert sound. If that doesn't send you away from this product, consider the value of a security device, which is hardwired into a doorbell that is outside of the security zone. So you can't really use it as a doorbell and a security device. Rather it is either a doorbell or an extender, to which you hard wire to the contacts. I spent hours trying to make this work otherwise. I spoke to 3 customer reps, a supervisor, and received the following from the head of customer service: if you don't like it, return it. Honeywell takes absolutely no responsibility for their products. Think twice, then think again...
Customer Review: Handy interface device Summary: 5 Stars
This is an universal switch to trigger the Honeywell wireless doorbell.
The description was not clear as to how it can be used.
It has contacts for NC/NO as well as 24v AC/DC triggering to replace an existing doorbell switch.
It is great on the mailbox to alert when the mail comes in using a magnetic contact switch on the mailbox door.
I also use it for a drive way alert using a magnetic proximity sensor. I used to use an infrared sensor but animals kept triggering it. Honeywell did not make a wireless driveway that works with this doorbell, so this switch allowed me to make my own.
Customer Review: A review. Summary: 4 Stars
This works as an 'extender' for the Wireless Door Contacts by connecting a small gauge wire and is not needed for the Wireless Motion Detector.
The wire works as a 'converter' by tapping into an existing hard wired system (with a small gauge wire); Which I completely gutted after playing with this Wireless Door Chime and Push Button system.
I had to write a note on mine, saying, "DOORBELL" as visitors to my house did not know what it was... and were knocking. Which is frustrating when you are excited about a product.
