Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell RTH230B 5-2 Day Programmable ThermostatCustomer Review: DON'T BUY IT!! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this thermostat because of the Honeywell reputation and it was featured at Lowes where I made the purchase. I originally thought the flexibility of the functions would also be helpful. I couldn't be more wrong!! This thermostat really SUCKS! It's difficult to program and the instructions are not intuitive. The cover to access the programs is very difficult to remove and requires a tool to do so. It was truly a waste of money, and I have decided to throw it out and purchase something better... don't waste your money or time with this product!!
Customer Review: Easy to Install and Use Summary: 5 Stars
Thermostat was easy to install and to use. You need to pay attention to the instructions, but installation should be pretty easy for most people. I like the clock and room temperature displays. If you do not need the two separate programs, you can get a less expensive model. Conversely if you need more programs (eg a separate program for each day) there is a more expensive model. This model (5-2 Day Programmable) was just right for me.
Delivery was prompt and received without any damage. I did not need or use customer service.
Customer Review: Out of box it didn't work Summary: 1 Stars
Just installed this to replace a Lux unit that failed. Installation is pretty easy but it will not turn on my furnace. It will only turn on the blower motor in manual mode. I keep getting put on hold with Honeywell or get disconnected with a message that they are too busy. I plan to return this to Home Depot. I also did a quick search online and the failure mode I have seems to be pretty common with this Honeywell thermostat model judging from the online postings.

4 Stars and here is why:
Easy to install
Easy to program
its about $30 .. what do you want more
Great step up from the old manual thermostat
Works great, but
No back light
No hinges on the cover so you keep snapping it on and off
I got 3 of these and every one was missing one crucial instruction on how to activate the ato 5-2 day cycle (which I got from customer service)
Customer Review: Great product, but... Summary: 4 Stars
This Howneywell RTH230B thermostat is easy to install, easy to program and easy to use!
It is lacking one minor feature that happens to be important for me: A button that when pressed, illuminates the display screen.
Without that I need to turn on the lights in the room whenever I need to check the temperature or the setting at night, which may inconvenience other family members (e.g. when the thermostat is in a bedroom).
