Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell RTH7500D Conventional 7-Day Programmable ThermostatCustomer Review: LCD Display of poor quality Summary: 1 Stars
I installed the new RTH7500D in my house. All functions and programming was fine. Only problem was the LCD display looked washed out with poor contrast. I complained to Honeywell who told me make sure the battery was new, connections were secure, no corrosion on any terminal etc. Of course, everything was fine. Then they said remove thermostat from the wall and see if the display improved - i.e. running on battery alone. Nothing changed! So advised me to return the unit to the seller for a replacement. I returned it to Amazon and got a new one. The same poor quality display! I have another Honeywell model RTH6400D(installed on another floor) and its display is fine! When I put them side by side, it is easy to see that RTH7500D has weaker, faded display!
Customer Review: Good price, good thermostat Summary: 4 Stars
Thermostat is easy to install and programming was not difficult. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Thermostat works well, no problems. My only complaint is that the display backlight (the real reason I bought this thermostat: to be able to see it in the dark without turning on a light and waking the household) cannot be turned on without changing the temperature setting. You have to press a button to turn on the backlight, and anybutton you press (even once) will either change the display to something other than the set temperature, or change the temperature setting itself. Of couorse, you can set it back where you want it, but it would be nice if there was a way to just turn the backlight on. Other than that, no complaints.
Customer Review: Great product, it does what it says it would Summary: 5 Stars
I changed my Honeywell manual set up control with this here are pros:
1. It was very easy to replace and connect
2. Was easy to set up, but please read the instructions
3. It works fine, no problems or any type of issues. Just as it should.
4. Lights up when you press the buttons, which allows to see in a dark room without turning on the lights
Cons
The only thing I wish it had was a way to see the whole day programming in one step, but I can understand why you can see this only as you progress, to allow editing, plus the fact that you can copy the setting.
Bottom line, I am happy with it and happier that I paid less than if bought at at Lowes or HomeDepot.
Customer Review: programming difficulty Summary: 3 Stars
Easy to install and programming buttons are easy to understand. It is the display that is difficult to understand. Be very careful about the check mark before the days of the week. When you make a temperature input it will apply to EVERY day that has a check mark and erase what you previously inputted. You have to cycle through the days twice to eliminate the CHECK marks for the other days to enter in data for just one day.
There is room on the display to show you all your heating or cooling temperature settings for each day of the week, but they neglected to provide this so it is very difficult to review your inputs to be sure they are right and to correct for CHECK mark errors from above.
Customer Review: As advertised! Summary: 5 Stars
I installed this unit today on a Trane Heat Pump system. I spent 5 minutes on the phone with Honeywell's tech support to verify wiring before I started. After that... I installed and programmed in 20 minutes or so. Installation instructions were very easy to follow and made perfect sense. I'm very impressed with how this unit maintains the exact temp you select. It works... what more can I say. I will add that I installed a Hunter touch screen thermostat a couple of months ago on my parents home's Trane system. There is truly no comparison between the Hunter and the Honeywell. Instructions for the Hunter were terrible. The programming is also very difficult and makes no sense for the Hunter.
