Customer Review: Good thermostat with many options.

I am very pleased with this thermostat. It was a good price for the options included. I ordered this for the office at work. We needed an area to remain the same temperature 24 hours a day but did not want to invest in an expensive climate control system. This thermostat's auto changeover function allows you to program it so that it switches automatically from heat to cool without having to manually flip a switch. This feature is not visible when you first look at the thermostat settings, but you can enter a program code to activate the feature. The thermostat has worked great so far for climate control. You must have at least a 3 degree split between the high and low temperatures, but the thermostat stays on top of it and always keeps the temperature within a degree of the desired temperature--which is perfect!
I agree with other reviews that it's weird that they use different numbers to indicate different program settings instead of having each setting named accordingly. This means that you MUST have the programming booklet to be able to do any advanced programming. The instructions are fairly easy to follow--just take it step by step.
Overall, I'm very happy with this product. It's a good value with lots of options.

I've been pretty happy with this thermostat so far. We moved into a new house and the thermostat was one of the first things we changed. I installed a Lux TX9000TS in my previous house (which I loved by the way) but was unable to get the same model because it was not compatible with the multi-stage heat pump at my new house.
Installation was pretty straightforward, only about 15 minutes to wire it up and mount it on the wall. It's important to read ALL of the instructions because there's a setup section which tells you how to configure the thermostat for your system. The configuration seems to happen at a pretty low level (settings with codes/values rather than words - use the install book for reference). It took me awhile to figure out that I needed to configure the system using the configuration codes in order to get it to work.
The scheduling program works pretty well and doesn't take too long to set up. The display is easy to read and control.
Overall I would recommend this product to someone who has a multi-stage heat pump system. If you have something compatible with the Lux TX9000TS I would also recommend that.

Installation of this product is helped greatly by the well written and easy to follow directions. I encountered a slight difficulty when one of the wires from my old thermostat was not listed in the directions for this one. I suspected that the wire would not be used but wanted to confirm this. I bit the bullet and called the help line number listed in the installation instructions. I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact that the options menu was easy to navigate and that I was immediately connected to a real live human being. The gentleman I spoke with was easy to understand (no outsourcing of customer service here). After asking me some questions I was briefly placed on hold. When he returned he not only confirmed that the wire in question could be terminated and would go unused but he also confirmed the proper connections for all the other wires. After that finishing the installation was a breeze as was the programming of the thermostat. If you do purchase this take time to use the ID stickers for the wires and you should have no problems. If you do need help it is just a quick, painless phone call away.Customer Review: This is a fanTAStic thermostat!

We've had this for 4 days now, and it installed easily. The instructions are clear and concise; pay attention to pages 21-23 for the wiring, and you'll be golden! Programming is a snap, too. I just discovered today that you can select multiple days - from 1 to 7 - to program, and set the wake, leave, return, and sleep times, heating, and cooling temperatures. It comes pre-programmed with the Energy Star settings for these things, so you don't have to change things if you don't want to.
The touchscreen is very nice and responsive - unless your hands are damp, in which case it might not sense your touch! So far my hands have been dry and I've had no problems, but my wife said her hands were damp when she tried to bump down the temperature, and it never noticed her touch.
As for controlling the temperature, it is rock solid! The backplate sets the thermostat about 1/2" away from the wall so the temperature sensor gets the air temperature, not the wall's, and the whole house just feels more comfortable!
All in all, this is the best thermostat I have ever owned.

I read a few reviews stating the auto function did not work for some who purchased this termostat, however, they most likely did not properly wire or program the termostat. I have a heat pump, so I had to use one of the alternate wiring diagrams provided in the installation manual. Once properly wired and power is restored to the unit, it is true that the auto function will not be visible initially (you will only see the System Heat, Off, and Cool settings). In order for the System Auto function to appear on the screen, you have to go through the advanced installation/set-up procedures in order to properly program the unit to match your specific system). Once programming is complete, the termostat works exactly as advertised.
I also previously read complaints about a loud "click" when the termostat kicked in - in my opinion, it's barely noticeable and no louder than any other automatic thermostat I've used before (one of the thermostats is about 6 feet away from my bed and doesn't bother me or my wife one bit while we sleep).
Overall, great product that works great!
