Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell RTH7600D Touchscreen 7-Day Programmable ThermostatCustomer Review: bad customer service, will never buy from again no matter how good their products are! Summary: 1 Stars
like most products, i read reviews before i make any purchases. same goes with these and all other honeywell security products they have out there. to make a long story short, i just moved into a old house and was doing work myself to save some bills. i purchased numerous honeywell products, thermostates, security systems, accessories, etc. spent thousands on their products. when i tried to call in for support on some of the products they have, they would not give me any at all base on the fact that i did not purchased it from a "authorized dealer"? i purchased these products brand new from their so called authorized dealers. all i was actually looking for was technical information on some of the products i was using for compatibility but they would not tell me at all. i tried to get to the higher level support or even management to get a simple answer, yes or no for compatibility with my system. these idiots choose to push me away from their company's products instead of giving me a simple answer of yes or no, if their product would be compatible with my system.
Customer Review: Accurate Summary: 5 Stars
Our old thermostat was having huge temperature swings so I replaced it with this one. Initially I thought there was "something wrong" because it was turning the air conditioner on all the time, but then realized that it was only on for a very short time and was maintaining the temperature within a degree or two. It is very accurate and has been a noticeable energy saver! Programming wasn't difficult either and once it's done, it's done. There is also an easy way to temporarily change the temp for the period you are in and it simply returns to normal when that period is over. The 7-day program is also great because I work Monday thru Friday and am off weekends. The unit is small with a neat apperance, but has an easy-to-read display. Installation is a snap (and I had never installed a thermostat before).
Another note: I noticed the same unit at my dentist's office and he said that every other thermostat they had installed ended up having to be replaced for one reason or another and they also were very satisfied with the performance of this unit.
Customer Review: Excellent thermostat! Summary: 5 Stars
I chose Super Saving Shipping and received my two thermostats in 3 days (ordered on the 21st, received on the 24th), much faster than expected. I also got a great deal on the price, as they were about $75 each when I purchased them, $25 cheaper than Home Depot. Installation was extremely easy. I put up both units within 45 minutes and that was with having to drill new holes for the back plate. I am pleased with the ease of operation and have definitely noticed increased comfort in my home. I don't have the temperature swings I used to have with my old programmables. There is a "click", though it doesn't bother me because my old ones did the same thing.
I did have to go into the codes to set up the date on one of the units, because I was moving a little too quickly and bypassed it at first, but it was just as simple as the initial installation. I always read manuals from front to back, but I really didn't need it to program the units.
I am so happy with these, I've recommended them to all of my friends.
Customer Review: Good, but lacking a bit Summary: 4 Stars
Okay, it's a thermostat and does what it's supposed to do. In searching for replacements to the non-programmable cheapy thermostats my builder installed in my new home, it was easy to get overwhelmed and confused with choices. This model ticked a lot of the boxes at a decent price.
Pros:
*Clean and simple appearance
*Easy programming (really)
*Responsive touchscreen with backlight
*Auto-changeover from cool to heat (disabled by default)
*Honeywell gets good ratings in general, so assumed quality/reliability
*No keypad beeps
Cons:
*No way to keep backlight on continuously (at least none I've found)
*Deadband permanently set to 1 degree. This is a *feature* called "precise Temperature Control", but makes the HVAC cycle more often than say being able to select a 2 degree difference.
*Makes a slightly annoying click when it starts/stops a heating or cooling cycle. The thermostats in my last house were pretty quiet, so I assumed all would be.
Customer Review: Simple to install, small profile, gorgeous Summary: 5 Stars
I was in the market o replace a mechanical programmable thermostat that came with the house, after some unusually high heating bille. I had the Honeywell T8090A1023, that is obsoleted, and, per the manifacturer web site, it is now replaces by TH8320U1008. Then, on the comparable item place, I found the RTH7600D. This is smaller and more modest looking, but very powerful and functional.
The guide was very detailed in how to relable the wire from the old thermostat, and, it even provided stickers to do the job. An equivalence page explained the `R` `Rc` and `Rh` wires, and how to do them.
I just had to bring the laptop with the PDF file over the living room, and, literally, it was a matter of following the steps. They even suggested the drill bit to use for the dry-wall.
Progamming it was very intuitive, and, I'm looking forward to see how it behaves as far as getting the house warm at the right time. If you do not want the touch screen, you an get the 7500 model
