The concept of this 7-day programmable Honeywell thermostat is great; however, even after having it professionally installed at considerable cost, it still is not working as advertised. When the furnace is supposed to back off from the heat mode during the day or at night, the system kicks into air-conditioning and is blowing cool air. We have tried everything according to the book and have called the 1-800 number provided to Honeywell for assistance but have only gotten a reply: "Due to the volume of calls, . . . please call back later." We are very frustrated with this thermostat and only want what has been promised.Customer Review: Outdated fragile touchscreen technology

The touchscreen on this thermostat is not like an iPhone. The touchpoints are visible on the screen. Apparently, the screens are rather fragile and unreliable. The touchscreen on my first worked for only a year and because Honeywell told me it was a "commercial" product, they wouldn't honor the 5-year warranty and forced me back to a dealer for warranty replacement. The one I just bought arrived with a defective touchscreen, so I just returned it and gave up on this model. The only good thing to say about this thermostat is that it doesn't cause brain damage trying to program it... it has a straight-forward algorithm.Customer Review: Great Thermostat

I love this devise. Was very easy to install. Opened the box and had it up and running in 30 minutes. I love the function that allows the fan to run and circulate the air in the house when the furnace or air is NOT running. I think it will save money in the long run because they won't have to run as often. This time of year I feel the air gets so stuffy at night because nothing runs. Now the fan runs on its own through out the night. I love it. I thought it was a bit pricy but when I read an artical that you get what you pay for. This thermostat was way over due. I replaced a mercury style thermostat with this one. I thought I was going to have to get another fan motor for the outside unit because it kept shutting off and sometimes not come on at all. The mercury switch was faulting out. I'm surprised that the heat pump didn't go out. I have had no problems with my AC since installing this thermostat. It is very easy to program and quite versatile. I love the temporary override feature. The fan circulation option keeps the house at a consistent temperature from the floor to the ceiling.Customer Review: Poor Warranty Coverage

Buyer beware....I purchased this thermostat justifying the cost versus other models with the energy efficiency. After owning the model only two years, it has been deemed "not fixable" by Honeywell but is not being replaced under the five year warrnaty as stated in the book because it was purchased online and not installed by a technician. The install is not that difficult and it obviously worked fine, but now they claim that the policy is void if not installed by a professional. If you want the warranty, buy elsewhere.
