Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-OunceCustomer Review: As good as new... Summary: 5 Stars
Ten months ago we bought $7000 of new carpeting. Two months ago we got two new puppies and one new shelter dog, in addition to our other three dogs. Unexpected life issues came up that prevented us from really keeping an eye on our new babies at first... so needless to say, our new carpet took a huge, devastating hit. On top of all that, we live in a rural mountain community and the amount of dust and dirt and mud that blows in and/or gets tracked in is astounding, no matter how careful we try to be.
A few weeks ago, I used Nature's Miracle to scrub and de-odorize the carpet in spots, and it did a decent job. But what a lot of work. On hands and knees with a soft scrub brush... roll after roll of paper towels to soak up excess... and then allowing a saturated carpet to dry naturally for up to two weeks (per instructions). Whoa -- not a practical solution for me. So my Mom's Day gift to myself was the Hoover F7412-900 SteamVac Dual V Widepath Carpet Cleaner with the Hoover Pet Formula Detergent. O.M.G. My carpet looks and smells absolutely brand new. Stains that I thought might be in the carpet permanently all came out. I'm really shocked. I didn't expect such a great result. I washed twice and rinsed twice (minimum), with plenty of dry passes in-between. I also allowed a few nasty spots to stay wet for 30 mins before rinsing and drying... and I think that helped a lot.
I love the light clean smell of the Pet Formula... it's not overpowering by any means (and I used a lot). So in the end, I really don't know how much of my success was due to the carpet cleaner itself (the Hoover SteamVac) or the detergent (the Hoover Pet Formula), but the two combined saved our carpet. I know I sound like a cheesy infomercial for Hoover now, but I can't help it. My husband and I are thrilled!

Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce
We made the mistake of changing the dog's food about a week ago and she had the "Hershey Squirts" 2 days in a row all over our berber rug. We have our house for sale and cannot show it with poop stains on the rug so it was an emergency visit to the local Ace hardware. In stock they has Ace 6 in 1 carpet cleaner so I picked it up. All carpet shampoo's are created equally right? After about 7 passes over the 5 foot by 5 foot area it looked pretty darn good. (BTW I was using a cheap Bissell Quicksteamer) When the sun came up and shined through our back window you could still see some of the stains. We were hoping that no one would notice the stains if we had to show our house.
I was bored at work (arent we all) and I was browsing the internet when my $500 Home Depot gift card was burning a hole in my pocket. I read some reviews on Amazon like I always do and I decided to try the Hoover Premium Pet Formula.
When I got home it only took me 3 passes with my old faithful Bissell Quicksteamer and to my amazement the stains were completely gone.
My only basis of comparison was the Ace 6 in 1 but the Hoover formula kicked its arse. If you are reading this you probably have some dorkish traits like I do but run, dont walk to buy this shampoo. HD website 19.99, HD store 24.99.
Customer Review: Caution for Allergies: it has a perfume scent Summary: 1 Stars
I thought this would have been a good choice because it said it removed "allergens". It also says on the bottle "removes allergens". This is ridiculous! Many people with allergies have reactions to perfumes and scents. Yes, it's a lovely fragrance, but that's not the point. I do not dare use this stuff, filling my rooms with the synthetic smell for who-knows-how-long. This is the type of thing that can give me headaches for weeks!
I tried to find ingredients listed on the bottle before opening it but there was no list, just that phrase "removes allergens". So I risked opening the seal to sniff it, and lost that gamble. I am very disappointed. Why would they perfume an anti-allergen product? Well, I should have read a few more reviews before the purchase. Now I have a huge bottle of useless-to-me shampoo.
I am back online searching for the key words "hypo-allergenic" and "unscented". I will try for a refund, but not sure what response I'll have due to open container. I feel the packaging/info is misleading to people with allergies. Cat and dog dander are not the only allergens!
Customer Review: Great stuff Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this solution with a Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge for almost a year now and have no complaints. In fact, the solution has a very pleasant scent and has gotten up even the yuckiest of the yuck our two cats and two dogs produce.
Before purchasing the cleaner itself, we had a rather large stain in the carpet that simply wouldn't come up with a handheld cleaner and Bissell solution. Just one cleaning, albeit an extended one, with the Hoover and this solution and the stain was completely gone. I wish I had taken before and after pictures because I am amazed. I have to attribute the success to the solution.
The last thing I'll say is that this stuff lasts forever. I'd say I clean our carpets once every couple of months and I'm still using the first jug!
Customer Review: The ONLY Carpet Detergent I'll Ever Use Summary: 5 Stars
The smell is wonderful. But even better than its smell, is the fact that it COMPLETELY removed the *large* dog pee stain in the middle of my cream-white, thick livingroom carpet. And that was *after* over a week of not being able to shampoo it (because my shampooer was out of town), and *after* several "spot-cleaning" treatments, and *several* times shampooing it once the shampooer was back with the Hoover "Deep Cleaning" detergent and Bissell detergent (each time using boiling water). I used this pet formula ONCE with the boiling water (I always use boiling water; IMO, it makes a huge and satisfyingly gross --gotta love that black sludge in your shampooer bucket-- difference)... And voila. NO sign of any dog urine stain in the carpet whatsoever. And the house smells as good as my carpet looks. I'll never bother with using anything other than the Hoover Premium Pet Formula detergent again.
