I read all the other reviews and decided to try this cleaner. I have all wood floors with area rugs. This cleaner does not have a motorized head so it doesn't suck up the area rugs. I can clean both the hardwood floors and area rugs. The filter cup does need to be cleaned just about every time you clean, but does a good job. Has quite a lot of power for the size. Put the head on the hardwood floor setting for the rugs too, or the rugs will get sucked up. The head pivots and has wheels, so manuvers very well and with ease. Does not stand on its own so I am careful to put it down when not using. All in all, a very good cleaner for hardwood and area rugs.Customer Review: Older reviews are not accurate now.

Hoover S2200 Flair Bagless Stick Cleaner. This stick vacuum cleaner was given a great review by Consumer Reports,(2009). In reading the reviews here I was skeptical but wanted a new stick cleaner so I bought it. The problems of short cord and not standing upright against wall have been taken care of and I can say for dog hair it is so far the best vac cleaner I have had. It is light weight and easy to empty and does a good job picking up. Some people who have had trouble with these light weight vacs, as far as not working, might do well to understand that they have to be emptied much more often than those with bags, especially when there is dog hair involved.Customer Review: Great little vac!

I love this little vac! It's perfect for the hardwood floors in my kitchen and dining room. It gets all the little crumbs we drop, all the fine dirt we track in from the garage, and I was thrilled when it easily picked up the floating fur balls from our long haired cat. Does a great job on floor edges, too. Fairly decent on throw rugs, but that's not its main purpose in my house. It's nice and light, and super easy to maneuver--easy enough for my 8 year old to help out after her cat. The turning head makes it comfortable to get under furniture, saving my already bad back. Light, easy to maneuver, easy to empty/clean...and the price was right!Customer Review: Defective product twice

I had researched "Consumer Reports" and found this to be their top rated product for this catergory. Initially I was very impressed with the suction and ability to maneuver this vacuum. However, after the first use of the vacuum, the switch that changes it from "carpet" setting to "floor" setting broke, and the brushes could no longer function to clean the floors adequately. Amazon was wonderful to exchange my defective vacuum, but the second one had the exact same problem! I've given up and will purchase a more expensive but hopefully more durable floor vacuum. I gave it 2 stars because before this problem, I really enjoyed the vacuum.Customer Review: It doesn't suck

Strong suction is not this machine's strong point. It will not suck up a grain of rice (long-grain, white, uncooked), unless one pulls the head off and uses the tube end (which is quite easy to do, and one can do edges that way too). That being said, it does a pretty good job with the smaller stuff, and the dust cup (or dog hair cup in my case) is amazingly full when one finishes. The cord is long enough for my purposes, and the aforementioned dust cup is handy - beats buying bags, though I imagine the filter at its top will need to be replaced at some point. I wonder if there's a stick vac that actually has good suction . . .
