Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hoover WindTunnel Allergen Filter Bag, 4010100Y

Customer Review: Good product, price on Amazon is the best
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned my Hoover Windtunnel for about 3 years now. Type Y bags are between difficult and impossible to find replacement for....especially at WalMart. Amazon has, no doubt, the best price. The product is described quite well in the other Customer Reviews.... the bags work great.....they are a bit expensive..... they do tend to fill up quickly, but I own 3 dogs, Golden Retrievers, and I expect with their shedding I would look for the bag to fill quicker than usual..... When I replace the bag, I've found that if I place the machine on a low table, and lower the handle as low as it will go... almost flat, then the bag is horizontal, I can remove the bag quite easily with a minimum of dust spillage. I had some generic bags which came with a small wide piece of clear Scotch tape which one would use to seal the full bag. This feature is great when I am vacuuming for but the Hoover Genuine product doesn't have this tape so I use a small piece of Scotch shipping tape to seal things up. I miss this feature. 5 Star Review is appropriate.

Customer Review: Hoover does better with their vacuums than their bags
Summary: 4 Stars

First the complaint - these bags are awfully pricey considering that they fill up so fast. The bag is too big for the compartment it's supposed to fit into, so you have to fold it over at the top and bottom to get it to fit into the allotted space.

Changing the bag is a big hassle because when you pull the old bag off, it's full of all that fine dust you were trying to keep out of the house and it all goes *POOF* when you try to delicately remove the bag from the vacuum.

I see a name brand competitor has come up with a solution to this by putting a little trap door thingie by the bag's opening, so when you pull the bag off the vacuum, all the dust doesn't fly out of the bag and go *POOF*.

Okay - the positive - The Hoover bags do a superior job of trapping fine and itty-bitty dust particles. But I do wish they'd figure out how to make bag removal and installation easier. Or just make the bag a different shape so you're not contorting it to get it into the allotted space.

Customer Review: You Get What You Pay For
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first Amazon review I have written but after reading some of the negative reviews on this item, I had to add my 2 cents worth. Although expensive, the price here is still $3 less than I found anywhere else (stores and the internet). This is the lowest price I have found these bags selling for (you get 3 bags in the pac). If you have allergies, you will appreciate spending a little more for a bag that really does trap the fine dust particles, etc. I do not have a problem installing or removing the bag. No dust escapes when I remove the bag.

I would also rather pay the shipping charges to have items delivered to my front door than driving around town, especially when you add in the time it takes you to shop, the cost of gasoline these days, and the risk of an accident when you drive.

Customer Review: Better with a bag
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this vacuum for my son who lives 10 hours away. He has turned into a neat freak (yes!!!!) and cleans his apartment regularly. I have a bagless vac at home and hate it when it is time to empty it out. It seems I get as much dust out into the house as I do picking it up. This new Hoover vacuum is air tight. When it is time to change bags, it is simple and efficient (no stray dust particles). He changes the bags regularly and buys the hypoallergenic type. Since he has allergies, this vacuum has worked much better for him than the bagless one I had. How do I know? After I would vacuum my house he would always sneeze. He does not sneeze after he uses his.

Customer Review: A Powerful Genie
Summary: 4 Stars

We've owned Kirby's, Oreck's, others and, for the money, this one wins hands down. It's lightweight, easy to manuveur, and almost drives itself. We have a medium nap carpet and have our unit set on the highest setting. It's great on pet hair (we have a yellow lab) and does a good job along walls and corners. The bag check port is a nice feature. The cord could be six feet longer and the on/off switch should be foot-operated or on the handle rather than the bag housing. The accessories are o.k., but difficult to use on stairs. Overall, for general cleaning, the unit performs magnificently considering a price under $100.
