Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum, Electronic Bagless, S3765-040Customer Review: I wish I could have my money back Summary: 1 Stars
Just not worth it. I was so excited when I purchased it, in May 2009. I was just looking a a good vacuum cleaner that did it's job. This vacuum broke the first time I tried to use it. The suction power would die after less than 10 minutes of use. I realized that if I unplugged it from the wall and waited about 5 minutes and plugged it in again, it would work for another 3 minutes or so, then the suction would stop again. I called authorized Hoover Service Center(as they request you do instead of returning the product back to Amazon) and took the vacuum cleaner there.
I called them once a week for 2 whole months. They said the problem was the motor and requested a new motor from Hoover. The motor was in back order and they were waiting for Hoover to ship it. By July I was so upset that I decided to buy another vacuum cleaner, however, finally they called for me to pick it up.
Again, I was fooled into believing it was in working condition. After 15 minutes of using it the suction power died!! I was so frustrated that I decided to return it. Well, my "return window" had expired!! I had over a month to return the product but because of Hoover's request and their delay in providing the motor, this product stayed in the Service Center for over 2 months and now I won't get my money back!!!!
I did buy another vacuum cleaner that same day and my husband took this one back to the service center. I don't know what they did to it and at this point, I don't care. They returned it to us after a week, I think it was August by then. When I got it home I used it and AGAIN the suction power stoped after 15 minutes (and every 3 minutes thereafter).
Just for the record, during the 15 minutes it worked, the suction power was awesome. However, it's not worth the aggrivation, emptying the canister very frequently, plugging and unplugging from the wall outlet, waiting for it to cool down or whatever. It would take me a whole afternoon to vacuum my upstairs, when it shouldn't take more than an hour, because of this.
Customer Review: Great vacuum but one thing needs to be improved Summary: 5 Stars
Whenever I buy something, I search for a long time which my husband thinks it is a waste of time. But for this Vacuum, he is very happy with what I did!!
When I first vacuumed my house and opened the dust cup, I was so embarrassed! " All this came from my floor!!!"
We don't wear shoes in our house and I always thought our carpet was pretty clean. It was not!
This vacuum picks up really good and comparing to my other upright one (I hate to compare this with Sam Sung brand because I am Korean and I always love Sam Sung But..... Samsung quiet jet ), it is less noisy.
Some people complained about the mess when you dump the dust cup but for me it is the most fun part. I CAN SEE how much it picked up and I feel pretty clean about carpet.
One of the main reason I purchase this vac was it has a brush for bare floor. It works really good for Our kitchen & dining area(wooden floor), laundry room, bathroom. It is very easy to interchange brush. I love it.
Hand held power brush works good for our stairs too. but if you don't have stairs, you can just purchase one which doesn't include power brush from Walmart. (it is about $50 cheaper)
The filter is pretty easy to clean too.
The only thing needs to be improved is their plastic body and durability.
Since it is a canister, its main body tends to bump to the corner of the wall, furniture when I drag it around.
The plastic ring of the wheel has already broken off -Luckily it was just for cosmetic reason. The wheels still run fine.
So when I vacuum, I have to be a little bit careful so the body of the vacuum doesn't bump my furniture.
If Hoover and all the other manufacturer put rubber around the vacuum (body), it will be great. Then I don't need to worry about vacuum and my furniture.
Over all, I am very happy with this vacuum.
Customer Review: Unbelievable headache Summary: 1 Stars
Bought this vacuum in mid-February and it's been terrible since the moment I hit "Place Order." First of all, it took two weeks to arrive--but that's the problem with using super saver shipping. I had pet hair piling up like tumbleweed while I waited for it to come by camel from Nevada to New York. Then it finally arrives, and for about ten minutes it's great, sucking incredible amounts of dirt and debris out of the carpet. I did notice that the container is miniscule, however, and that it was half full after only that short period. But before I had time to fill it the rest of the way, the brush stopped rotating. I opened it up and the belt had come off. Put it back on and resumed vacuuming, and it immediately came off again. A call to Hoover resulted in them telling me I must be using the wrong belt, even though it was the one that came on it. They sent another one by mail. When it arrived and we put it on, the exact same thing happened after five or ten minutes of Hoovering. Called Hoover and was informed that the closest service center is in the Bronx. We're in Manhattan, so why would I get in a cab and go all the way to the Bronx--and have to go back to pick it up, as well--to get their stupid faulty machine fixed? The lady had zero sympathy and told me to call Amazon. I followed her advice, but thanks to the two-week shipping and the time it took for Hoover to send the same belt it came with, I was told we'd just passed the 30-day return period. My wife and I had no choice but to start calling around to the "local" service centers, but so far, everyone we've described the problem to has laughed and told us to return it or throw it out. Apparently, this is a huge problem with Hoover machines and is virtually impossible to repair. Another call to Hoover was essentially useless--we can ship it to them at our own cost or else we're outta luck. Thanks Amazon; thanks Hoover. Consumers, be warned: do not buy this product unless you enjoy throwing cash into the vacuum.
Customer Review: great buy Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this vaccum to replace my dying upright. We switched to a canister vaccum because our new house has hardwood floors and area rugs and uprights aren't very good on hard surfaces. When the vaccum arrived it took literaly 4min to assemble and I used it right away. I know it might be a little lame to get excited about a vaccum but it was great! I've only used it for a week now so I can't say how it will hold up but it seems to be sturdy and durable so far (even with my 2yr old tying to ride it everytime I vaccum).
Pros:
-easy to manuver & pretty light weight
-self rewinding power cord
-long hose and self propelled, lighted vac head when it's on carpet mode
-the handle stands up by itself (unlike the older canister models)making it easy to store
-glides under furniture. it needs about 3in. clearance for the vac head then you can vaccum all the way under furniture without loosig contact with the floor unlike upright models
-comes with a mini vac head (with mini spinning brush)that makes it easy to clean stairs
-different suction settings and floor/carpet buttons on the handle
-can switch to floor mode when cleaning small rugs like bath mats/door mats so the brush stops spinning and won't suck the corners of the mat into the vac but you still have good suction to pick up dirt
-HEPA
-the dirt compartment has a cover so the dirt and dust won't go flying when you remove it to empty
Cons:
-it's a little too big to rest on a stair so I had to support it with my knee when I got to the middle of the staircase
-the dirt compartment fills up quickly so I find myself having to empty it half way through
-only a 1 year warranty
All and all I think it's a great vaccum with a great price tag. The cons are pretty minor in my opinion and I would reccomend this vaccume to everyone. Did I mention it's also great on pet hair?
Customer Review: Great suction, but not worth the aggravation. Summary: 3 Stars
I have had this vacuum for several years now, and I do have a few good things to say about it (hence the 3 stars), but I will start with the cons.
CONS
UNWIELDY: This little cannister looks like it would follow you around just like a puppy. Not so. It's more like a stubborn mule. It constantly crashes into corners and gets twisted up in its chord. It struggles over the carpet as if it were stuck in quicksand. You have to drag and jerk it along the whole way. The carpet attachment also drags on the carpets. There is no adjustment for carpet thickness and whether I'm using it on Berber or low shag it takes some serious muscle to pull it back and forth.
FRAGILE: Nearly EVERY attachment on this vacuum has broken in some way. I have to know just the right trick to make them all work because they are cracked or missing an important latch etc. Even the power buttons are shorted out and I have to hold the handle in just the right way to make it turn on and off. The little spinning brush attachment that I thought would be so useful on the stairs and furniture is useless. As soon as you press it to the carpet the brush stops spinning.
PROS
There are THREE great things about this vacuum:
SUCTION: Incredible suction! It picks up TONS of carpet fiber, dust, hair, EVERYTHING.
COLLECTION: The bagless collection cup and filter are excellent. When it's full I just take it out to the shop vac and suck it clean.
CHORD WINDER: The chord wind up thingy is great. Just step on the switch and the chord is gone.
CONCLUSION:
If I had known then what I know now about this vacuum I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED IT. The Pros are just not worth the aggravation of using it. I feel like I want to kick it every time I vacuum. It's hard enough to keep the house clean without all the extra hassles. I would definitely look for something else.
