Tools and Hardware Reviews of Household Essentials 3-Arm Portable Umbrella Clothing DryerCustomer Review: Great Clothes Dryer Summary: 5 Stars
Myt wife is a minimalist in some areas and drying clothes is one of them. Living in the Northwest we have cool wet winters and hot dry summers. Line drying our clothes and bedding is done outdoors during the summer and the smell and feel of line-dried sheets is one of our simple pleasures. Indoor drying in the winter is more of a challenge trying to get the same rough feel on sheets and towels. We used to have sheets and towels plus all our other laundry that didn't fit on a wooden folding-style rack strewn over everything.
I saw this rack, decided to buy it and although my wife was skeptical, she now loves it. A set of queen sheets fits around the outer lines with lots of room for pillow cases and everything else in the inner sets of lines. Very easy to assemble and disassemble. The wide legs provide plenty of support for the lightweight dryer.
The top is made to lock into the bottom of the two two-piece unit but we leave the top tube riding on the nylon/plastic locking pin so we can spin the top in place so we don't have to "circle" the dryer while hanging clothes. This way we can spin the top part in place - which would be a nice feature for outdoor use also if you didn't have to lock the top in place.
It's a great drying rack for the price and being able to use it both indoors and outdoors as reported by other reviewers is a plus.
Customer Review: will allow me to unplug my dryer Summary: 4 Stars
I have been trying to line-dry on my screen porch for about a year now, and it works fine, but I can only dry one load per day. This will change that! Now I can move the laundry around in the yard, following the sun throughout the day. My husband is also happy because we aren't putting something in the ground that he will have to mow around.
Pros: It is very lightweight and easy to move. The set-up and take-down are easy and quick. It holds about one large load of laundry. Flat sheets might turn out to be tricky, but other than that it has good capacity.
Cons: Like I mentioned, it IS lightweight. The first time I used it, it blew over in the yard. The second time I used it, I weighted the ends of the legs down with some heavy bags (I had three bags of lava rock left over from landscaping, but bags of potting soil or something similar would work). It was pretty windy-- a storm was coming in--but it stayed standing.
Overall, I recommend this product. The portability makes it great for people who don't want to look at laundry lines every time they walk outside.
Customer Review: 3-Arm Portable Umbrella Clothesline Summary: 5 Stars
I live in the Mid West where there is a lot of sporatic rain. I first purchased a large umbrella clothes line and it lasted about six months untill the plastic sliding part busted maybe from over loading it. Still I saved a bundle on my gas and electric bills. My living quarters are small so now I have the smaller 3 arm umbrella. It works well for just a load or two of clothing depending on how heavy your items are. Since I'm constantly tripping over the large base feet I wonder how long it will be before the plastic parts on this one break. The room I have it in is a smaller bedroom and that's probably why I keep running into the feet. For the money I'd say it's a fair deal. I do wonder why these companies don't make all the parts aluminum instead of plastic. Maybe because we wouldn't have to replace them as often. I'd be willing to pay a lot more for an all aluminum or metal one. This would make a great gift for college students, elderly people or young couples starting out.
Customer Review: Solar Power Dryer Summary: 5 Stars
I was a bit skeptical that this line could hold up to the winds, but have been pleased and amazed as to how well it handles the clothes and wind. I did not find set up a problem at all. It sets up in less than a minute and folds down in the same amount of time. It is not complicated at all. I have found that I like it best when I do not snap the top pole into the bottom pole with the spring loaded pin and hole mechanism. This allows me to stand in one place and load the clothes in an even pattern rather than walking around the line. It also allows for free movement in stronger gusts of wind.I believe that if it were secured than it may have the potential to tip more easily. Overall, I love this product for its ease of use and portability. It saves so much on our electric bill. I would highly reccommend it and give it a two thumbs up.
Customer Review: Indoor line drying made easy! Summary: 5 Stars
I have only had this item for a short time but so far am very pleased! I line dry in summer and early fall outside but wanted a way to line dry inside during the winter and rainy times. I was using a drying rack but it just didn't hold enough or keep longer items like pants off the ground. This item is so easy to set up and take down. It holds an extra large load of clothes with room left over and is very sturdy. I have it set up right in front of my washing machine and it's fast and easy to transfer items from the washer to the lines. The only problem I have had is sometimes tripping over the legs, but this is easily avoided if I pay more attention! I have not had a chance to use it outside yet but might try it in the spring. Very pleased with the fast shipping and the item was in perfect condition on arrival.
